How I Missed Those Apples!

Welcome back apples! Oh,  how missed you!

If you’ve been reading my baking blog a while you may remember me talking about our abundant apple tree a couple of years ago. Yes, those apples are from our apple tree. Gorgeous, right?

The apples are not only delicious for eating, they work great for baking and spiced applesauce and apple butter. I had a blogged about a lot at my baking blog and had so much fun with my tree!

Then later that fall my husband pruned our apple tree and last year the lack of apples were sad. I knew this would happen but he insisted that it had to be done. I missed our apple tree so much last fall. I even resorted to *gasp* buying apples for baking from my grocery store.

But guess what? They are back!

They are growing great and I can’t wait to make some fantastic goodies again this year!

Is it strange that I get excited? Anyone else love a fruit tree?

  1. YUMMY!!! Those apples look so good! I miss living back in NE and being able to go apple picking! I got a lemon and orange tree for Mothers Day this year. I love lemon – lemon cookies, lemon cakes, lemonade.

    1. I wish I could have a citrus tree! Unfortunately our climate doesn’t work for that type of tree! 🙁 That is a thoughtful Mother’s Day gift that keeps on giving. I’ve been meaning to plant some raspberry bushes though so I can make some wonderful jam!

    1. We were lucky to have the apple tree here when we bought the house. Otherwise it takes a while to actually get apples from a planted tree. I’ve never seen a granny smith apple tree around here. I wonder if it takes a certain type of climate?

  2. My mother-in-law makes homemade applesauce and
    adds red hots to it…
    Your apples look yummy!

  3. WOW those apples look delicious! how nice to be able to step out to your backyard and pick a fresh apple. Enjoy all of your great baking! I can imagine how yummy home made apple sauce must be 🙂

  4. I envy you the fresh fruit growing on a tree in your yard! It’s so nice to have fresh fruit. Growing up, we had a peach tree that my mother planted from a store bought peach pit. That tree had the best, sweetest, most wonderful peaches I’ve ever had.
