My three-year-old son was having some mysterious symptoms. His doctor wanted to send him to a series of specialists. I didn’t hesitate to go back to the same children’s hospital that saved my now 11-year-old son’s life.

What we didn’t anticipate was the day before our scheduled departure he complained of his arm hurting. Urgent care thought he dislocated his elbow but unfortunately, their attempts to fix it failed. We discovered there was a three-day wait to see a specialist so we had to make the four-hour drive with our son in excruciating pain.

The children’s hospital went above and beyond for us. His doctor immediately started calling to get him in to see a specialist for his elbow. Turns out his elbow was broken and not dislocated. We learned one of my son’s mysterious symptoms most likely caused the break. Slowly we’re learning pieces of his puzzle as we work closely with the hospital to discover more about our special needs child.jax-following-the-dog

I’ve learned motherhood is a journey with each of us having different stories to tell. But we all want the best for our children. Women’s Choice Award recognizes this and empowers us by researching children’s hospitals around the country using its one-of-a-kind Best Hospitals Award Methodology. Having a respected resource to turn to offers families peace of mind if a children’s hospital is ever needed. It doesn’t surprise me that the hospital that has been working so hard to help my son has made the list!

  1. We have alot of military hospitals where I live but we do have an amazing childrens hospital here. Santa Rosa has been amazing for children around here as well as the families of the kids.

  2. Health is our most precious commodity. Sadly, money to get help with help too. There are so many gofundme pages for treatments.

  3. This is good information. There is a children’s hospital near me and some years ago, there was a huge problem. I don’t know if it has been sufficiently corrected, but you assume things will be OK. It is good to have info like this to be prepared.
