I am embarrassed to admit to using the toaster I’ve had since college. I’m guessing that just saying I’ve had it since college is a clue. While it may be a four slot toaster, it was never an expensive one to begin with, not to mention the marks it has received over the years. Marks including a bit of melted plastic bread bag on the side. Yeah, classy.
And now my kitchen is equipped with this…
A toaster that can do a lot more than I ever imagined a toaster could. A toaster that actually looks, dare I say, cool? This is the KitchenAid 4 Slice One-Touch Motorized Life Toaster with LCD Display. It is a mouthful but a bit bad ass so it can get away with it. So what can this high end toaster do that my basic one couldn’t? I’m so glad you asked.
Includes a LCD display with digital progress bar, extra-wide 1.5 inch slots which will accept the thickest bagels, breads or pastries, adjustable shading control which regulates browning of the toast, and a TOAST/CANCEL button.
To toast simply choose your desired setting for doneness with the shade dial and press TOAST. The toaster will remember your setting for next time but is very easily changed.
When your toast is ready, the toaster will beep to let you know. Some may find this sound annoying. It would be a fabulous feature to be able to turn off. While I love the beep so that I know exactly when my toast is finished, it would make it hard to be stealth in the morning if you are trying not to wake anyone. I wouldn’t call this toaster fast. Instead its goal is to make very evenly toasted bread, bagels and pastries which it does beautifully. There are no bright red lights inside as it toasts, instead using a lower temperature which adds a bit of time.
My very favorite feature is the extra wide slots and other warming features including a KEEP WARM, DEFROST and REHEAT setting. I love using this toaster to heat leftover waffles (from my KitchenAid Waffle Baker) because instead of eating soft waffles, I get crispy waffles that seem fresh from the waffle baker! (Please ignore the sad state of these waffles in the picture below. They got a bit smooshed in the fridge!)
I knew it.
The KitchenAid 4-Slice One-Touch Toaster has a retail price of $249.99 and can be purchased directly from KitchenAid or at a discount (with free super saver shipping) on Amazon! (Be sure to check out the reviews while you are there.)
