We’ve recently celebrated several birthday in our family, including Warren’s 5th birthday and Wesley’s 1st birthday! This week I’ll be sharing some fun birthday celebrations and gift ideas for your little ones.
First up is Warren’s Angry Birds Birthday Party! We honestly could not have done this without some amazing birthday supplies, sent to us courtesy of Party City. They were very generous and gave me the flexibility to great a fabulous party with ease and one that certainly impressed the guests and kept the kids entertained.
We decided to host the party in a private room at our local Pizza Hut. The room was free and Warren absolutely loves their stuffed crust pizza so it was an easy choice. The only downside was the room was located in the basement so the lighting wasn’t ideal. My husband and I also only had 45 minutes in the space before guests started to arrive so while we prepped as much as we could beforehand, set up was a bit of a rush.
With so many fun Angry Birds Space birthday party supplies from Party City, it was easy to transform these tables into a fun angry birds party table! These definitively got oohs and aahhhs.
The kids especially loved the Angry Birds lunchboxes and rock candy/gumball station. I let the 11 kids in attendance take some home with them, along with their favor boxes.
These red and white popcorn boxes were perfect for the the party favors. Since we had a themed water bottle for every guest, these taller boxes worked perfectly. In the boxes were stickers, a bracelet, water bottle, balloon and a mustache/eyebrow set for each child.
My husband was in charge of balloons that he grouped together and hung around the room. He also hung streamers behind the dessert and favor table. It was amazing how fast the room started to transform with these elements.
Food was so simple and affordable that I have to wonder why I never had a party here sooner. We served pizza of course and brought in our own fruit and veggie trays to supplement.
For entertainment, the kids had a lot of fun with the Angry Birds masks and mustache/eyebrow sets. We got some great shots of the kids (and even adults) sporting their new looks. They were very easy to apply once we figured out how to remove the backing. (Thanks Kyle!)
Some of the kids started to improvise with their masks, adding mustaches and eyebrows directly to them. Even newborn Delaney wanted to get in on the action and we quickly snapped a couple of pictures of her new mustache. (Is that the Lorax?)
Besides the masks and mustaches, we also had a Put The Tail on the Red Bird game. The game allows 8 children to play so we needed two in order to have enough stickers.
It was so helpful that each sticker tail was numbered and had a spot to write the child’s name on each. We had four children who all had the tail very close to where it belonged so it worked out perfectly to give each of them one of the themed metal lunchboxes. While there were a couple of broken hearts because the lunchboxes were a huge hit, it helped to have such fun favor boxes so every child left with something.
I made Warren these bright, multi-colored cupcakes, perfect for his Angry Birds and Angry Birds Space themes. They took longer than traditional cupcakes but were worth it!
These birthday candles from Party City and my homemade angry birds cupcake picks fit nicely together on this whimsical wire cupcake stand by Wilton. The kids loved finding a “colorful surprise” inside their cupcake.
