I’ll freely admit it. I have never played a Facebook game before. With plenty of family members who love them, I’m totally clueless when they start talking about harvesting their crops or trying to help someone else cater a party. And I normally give those people a hard time for cluttering up their wall with all this stuff. But I’ll say these games give my retired in-laws some much deserved relaxation and a way to interact with friends many states away.
When I was asked to try out the Facebook game, A Better World, I figured it was time I tried one out for myself to better understand the addiction.
The first thing I noticed was the ability to change the look of my avatar. Everything from hair style and color to clothing and makeup could be changed.
I had a lot of fun playing around to create this cool looking gal. I found myself getting carried away with trying different looks before I finally stopped, realizing I hadn’t even started playing the game yet! Don’t you just love her top?
My favorite aspect of this game is the positive overall theme. By giving thanks and expressing gratitude you are rewarded. I had enjoyed posting three different things I’m grateful for and reading the gratitude of others. I even had the option of posting my gratitude to my Facebook wall for all to see.
I was pleasantly surprised when I visited the post office and found I could post messages to friends, letting them know what they mean to me. Other aspects of the game include earning and purchasing items for my home, ability to give gifts and play games in order to earn more gold and bucks.
After playing for a while I realized how easy it is to get sucked into Facebook games. It is fun to explore and the ability to interact with friends is certainly appealing. I don’t have a lot to compare this game to but I have to say, if you are going to play a Facebook game, why not play a game that sends a positive message and gives you (and your friends) warm fuzzies all over? I recommend checking A Better World out for yourself and spread some of your own good cheer!
Disclosure: I received a gift card from Likeable Media as thanks for testing and writing about the game. My thoughts and opinions are 100% my own and yours may differ.
