Apartment Guide is more than just a helpful source for when you’d like to make a move. They also have tips for living, no matter where you call home. Some of these tips include decorating, healthy living and making the most of any large or small space. Which is good since Apartment Guide has invited me to take part in their Spring in Small Spaces Blogger Challenge. I could certainly use some help preparing for spring in my house!
When thinking about making some updates, I considered the rooms in my house and which ones were most in dire need of a makeover. Unfortunately that list was long and I decided to pick a room that I thought I could make a dramatic impact without spending a lot of money. Because our home has a smaller kitchen, we spend a lot of time in our dining room. And while there isn’t anything wrong with this space but it is certainly missing something, isn’t it? Perhaps some new cheerful curtains?
We ditched tablecloths and centerpieces when we had kids and haven’t thought to add anything since. But looking at my dining room through these pictures, I see that our table just looks bare. Completely void of color. So my thoughts were to add a bright table runner and perhaps a non breakable centerpiece. I could also desperately use some new dishes since we are currently using those from our wedding almost 9 years ago. Time to freshen the table!
I love my buffet and the table runner that is currently on it. But it is certainly dark and fits better with fall decor. I could also use some accents for my pear picture, or a different picture altogether.
My dining room also doubles as my office. While we do have office space available, the dining room is the central location that allows me to see in both the living room and kitchen and it is easier to get a little work done and still keep an eye on the kids. Obviously I have some spring cleaning and organizing to do. This is our catch all. Our place to put stuff that has made its way onto the dining room table and needs to go somewhere so we can eat. Yes, my desk is under there, I assure you. I need to get rid of the clutter!
If you to struggle with clutter check out the Apartment Guide’s Tips for Decluttering Your Apartment.
Whatever I ultimately decide to do with the space and my budget, I’m excited to get started. I would love any inexpensive ideas you may have for this space, just don’t ask me to sew my own curtains or get super crafty. (I can’t sew, eek!)
If you’re ready for a whole new space or are looking to move, Apartment Guide has the photos, floor plans, features and tips to help you find the perfect apartment community. But if you simply looking to spruce up your own space, how about a spring basket including bright summer linens, tableware and decor? I thought that might sound good!
One reader will win a spring gift basket containing a variety of spring-themed items including an ice bucket, a solar lantern, tablecloth and napkins, picture frames and a serving tray. This is a $100 value, courtesy of Apartment Guide.
