My boys are huge fans of macaroni and cheese. But to be honest, we’ve never really gone outside the usual blue box. So when the opportunity to try out two brands of natural mac and cheese, I couldn’t pass it up. One of those brands was Back to Nature, which is a brand I’m not all that familiar with.
Made with natural cheddar cheese sauce, Back to Nature has the nutrition to make moms smile and the great taste to please kids as well. We proudly make our products without artificial flavors or preservatives and deliver your little ones a good source of protein with 0g of trans fat per serving.
Back to Nature challenged me and my family to compare Back to Nature Mac & Cheese to its leading competitor. They sent me the following:
- One Back to Nature Organic Shells and Cheddar Macaroni & Cheese
- One Back to Nature Crazy Bugs Macaroni & Cheese
- One box of the leading competitor’s brand of Organic Shells
- One box of the leading competitor’s brand of Shape Pasta
So what were the challenge results?
When we compared Back to Nature Crazy Bugs with the leading competitor, it wasn’t even much of a competition. I was sure to not let the rest of my family know which company had supplied us with our mac and cheese so they wouldn’t be persuaded.
I noticed immediately after preparing both that the Crazy Bugs from Back to Nature where a lot creamier. That was what the rest of my family commented on as well.
The results were very obvious just looking at their plates. Both of my boys asked for seconds of the bugs before their bunnies were gone! My husband and I had to agree, the bugs were much creamier and had a great texture and flavor. I don’t think I’ve ever enjoyed a shaped pasta dinner as much as I did those and we’ll definitely be buying them again. Each time I make mac and cheese now my boys are asking me if I’m making the bugs!
The shells we received of both the brands were just eaten last night and I can’t give the same glowing reviews. Both were decent but I have to say the leading competitor’s had a better flavor. I can’t quite put my finger on it but the cheese in the Back to Nature version wasn’t as creamy as it was with the bugs and didn’t mix up as well either. When comparing all four boxes we received however, the Back to Nature Crazy Bugs wins hands down.
