Chili Cheese Dip Recipe Ingredients
All you need are three ingredients to make this chili cheese dip!
- cream cheese
- canned chili with or without beans (Hormel chili or other favorite brand)
- shredded cheese (cheddar or other cheddar blend)
- sliced green onions or jalapenos for garnish (optional)
Not a fan of canned chili? Try this dip with homemade chili. Not only is a great way to use some leftovers, but it will taste even better. This recipe has only been tested will full fat products, however lower fat or lower sodium versions can be used if preferred.

Garnish is optional but I think green onions or sliced jalapenos are colorful and offer a nice flavor. You could also add a dollop of sour cream or guacamole. Serve your favorite dippers like tortilla chips, crackers, or pita chips.
How to Make Chili Dip with Cream Cheese
This is an extremely easy dip recipe but I’ll still break down the simple steps for you. Start by gathering a pie plate. Really any size will work for this!

Spread your softened cream cheese evenly over the bottom of the pie plate. I like using an offset spatula for this step.

Add your canned chili and spread evenly over the top of the cream cheese using the back of a spoon. Hormel with beans works well but any brand with or without beans is fine!

Next add your favorite shredded cheese blend or you can shred a block of your favorite cheddar, monterey jack, pepper jack or other melty cheese.

Bake uncovered at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 minutes or until your chili and cheese dip is nice and bubbly.

Top with green onion or sliced jalapenos as garnish and for extra flavor, if desired. Serve warm.

This cheese chili dip is ridiculously easy but oh so delicious! Sometimes simplistic recipes using ready made ingredients are just what you need in your “snack foods for parties” recipe box. No shame in the dump and go game!

What Should I Serve with Chili Dip?
Anything that is good for dunking is great with chili dip! While I love Fritos Scoops corn chips because it makes it easy to scoop this warm dip, any chip like tortilla chips or kettle chips can be used. Also consider other alternatives like crusty bread, crackers, pita chips, pretzels or veggies. You could also use this as a topping for french fries!
