Having a three year old son like Warren who loves to dress up, I’m discovering the benefits of purchasing high quality costumes for every day play. Chasing Fireflies, a site that I only just recently learned about, has a to die for selection of costumes for the whole family. This is a higher end site that may be a bit of a splurge but many of the costumes are extremely unique and of a quality you won’t find just anywhere.
Chasing Fireflies has their more than 500 costumes broken down by gender and age including baby, girl, boy, and adult male and female. This makes it easier to find just the costume for you. From sweet fairies to scary demons, there are plenty of options for coordinating family costumes, I only wish they put them together in one spot!
It is no secret my son loves superheros (hence the superhero bedroom makeover earlier this summer). So of course when I let him look through the many pages of costumes on Chasing Fireflies it came as no surprise he would choose one of his favorites, in this case Superman. I figured Captain America or Batman would win out but he continues to surprise me. Maybe it was the cape?
Doesn’t he make an adorable Superman? He can save me anytime! Actually I think he probably could with muscles like these. Isn’t the detail in this costume amazing? Loving the six pack and I know that Warren feels extra cool and “strong” wearing it. The entire costume is of a very nice quality and I know will last through many years of use. And since the costume is a bit big he won’t be growing out of it anytime soon.
I do have a couple of suggestions for improvement. The back of the costume only has one velcro button at the very top so it opens a bit in the back. Not a big deal with the cape covering it but it would be nice to keep any breeze out. The size of this costume is also misleading as it states size 4 to 6, ages 3 to 4 years on the package. Warren is 3 1/2 but wears a size 4T because he is very tall. His Spiderman costume from his birthday which had the exact same size listed just barely fits him now. It would be nice if the site included additional size information and reviews for the specific costumes so customers were more informed.
I couldn’t only pick a costume for Warren so Lucian got this pretty slick reversible Spider-man costume which is unlike any I’ve ever seen. You can choose between being black Spiderman or regular Spiderman. Since my boys follow the cartoon series and are very familiar with the background of the story, it was VERY cool to both boys that they could be the black version.
It is very easy to switch the costume between the two and because both costumes are together, it seems thicker and higher quality than a traditional costume. Love the detailing in the muscles and the entire costume itself.
