My boys love doing art projects, especially my middle son Warren. He is constantly pulling out his paper and crayons to make a beautiful masterpiece for me. And even my oldest who is nearly seven has started to love his art class at school. But as every parent knows, kids come home with a large amount of art pieces from school. Combine that with the art they make at home and suddenly you’ve got an overwhelming amount of paper.
I had been searching for a while for a way to organize it all. While I will recycle some if it, I don’t want to toss it all. Displaying it isn’t any easier. I’ve finally found the perfect solutions with these art products I received for review from HearthSong.
The My Art Place Portfolio ($19.99) is an oversized, expandable portfolio which can hold paper up to 12″ x 18″ . It includes a cutout handle which makes it easy to transport.
This contains eight color-tabbed sections for organizing. Since both of my boys are using this, I’ve allocated four sections for each of them. You could divide it by art type, by school year, or anything else that works well for your family. I love the flexibility. It is amazing how much this portfolio can hold!
Also included with the portfolio is a sturdy frame made of cardboard. This frame is a perfect way to display artwork while still protecting it with a clear plastic film. And it is very easy to change them out. We love this for the refrigerator and just use a magnetic clip (not included) to hold it in place. The only downside is that you can’t easily use the handles with the frame actually in the portfolio because the size.
We also received two Lil’ Davinci Art Frames ($29.98-$39.98) in the 8-1/2″ x 11″ size. They also offer a 12″ x 18″ size for those larger art pieces. These frames are perfect for easily displaying artwork and actually making it look like part of the decor! We’ve used them for different types of mediums from tissue paper art to a lion hand puppet with cutouts. Aren’t they cute?
Each frame can hold up to 50 pieces of artwork in a ultra thin 1″-thick front-opening display cabinet with easy to open latch. A magnet on the inside of the frame and easy to push down latch makes it easy to open, although I’m not sure I would trust my 6 and 5 year olds with switching out the artwork yet. (Note: One of the frames had a latch that my husband had to alter a bit to close properly but he said it was an easy fix.) The white background means you can also display art that is of an unusual shape.
Changing out the orientation is super simple as well. I absolutely love these frames and now I simply have to get the larger size to add to our dining room wall. Thankfully the black frames with white matte work perfectly with the decor we already have and this location means we see their art all the time! I can imagine these also looking fabulous in a hallway, family room, playroom or kids’ bedroom.
Both of these products are available for purchase at HearthSong. Get the My Place Art Portfolio at a discount if you buy two or more.
