I grew up in a family that was ALWAYS playing board games. We didn’t have a designated family game night (though I like the idea), but we spent most weekend evenings around the family dinner table playing games. As we got older, we moved on to card games. Even now, when we all get together for a holiday or birthday or anything we often end the day playing games. This is definitely a tradition I want to pass down to my children.
My kids were THRILLED when we received Froggy Boogie (ages 4+) from Blue Orange Games.
The Fun Memory Race Around the Pond!
It’s nap time at the pond but the baby frogs still want to play. Baby frogs try to be the first to hop around the pond without being seen by the adult frogs. Players guess or remember which adult frog popping eyes will freeze the baby
frogs in their race. Nine adult frogs are placed in the middle and each has 2 removable eyes, one has a small green frog on the bottom and one is blank. If you draw the blank eye, you get to move forward, if the lifted eye shows a baby frog on its back, the Baby Frog has been caught and has to stay put until the next turn.
Danica and Kurt loved shaking the dice and seeing which colors they would come up with. (It was even better once I realized if we shook the dice into a box we wouldn’t have to keep picking them up off the floor, genius, I know). Once Danica got the hang of it, she was really good at remembering which eyes to pick and which not to. The kids have played several times since we received the game and loved it every time.
This was such a refreshing change from our usual board games and even though it is for Ages 4 and up, my 3 year old was able to play too although he has yet to win as he is not very good at the memory component of the game yet. It was also extremely nice that Froggy Boogie has an average play time of 15 minutes as that seems to be the attention span my kids have for games at this age.
