Father’s Day is coming quickly (Sunday, June 16th for those of you who might have forgotten). Dad’s are tough to buy for in my house. Both my father and my husband tend to buy what they want and don’t often think to offer gift ideas. One favorite of both of the dads in my life are family friendly games. ThinkFun has always been a great source for our family.
My husband and I are both pretty visual people but I tend to work with words/images while he works with numbers. I thought I’d found a game that we’d both like. I was a little worried about this one because my husband tends to get letters mixed up when he reads quickly (I think he could be slightly dyslexic). I was wrong. He had no trouble with this one and kicked my butt! I should have known. He LOVES games and puzzles. The last game I bought for him was Swish (also by ThinkFun) and I can’t even play that one with him. His mind just sees things that way and mine does not!
I can’t wait to share WordARound with our friends and family. You can easily play this game with just two people or with a group and it’s small enough to throw in a bag and take it to a cabin or hotel room. Want to give it a try? Check out this awesome WordARound online teaser. You can do five sample cards per turn.
Race to Unravel the Word
Who knew that positioning a word in one continuous ring would make it so tricky to read? Be the first to decipher and shout out the word on each WordARound card, and you win that card. Collect the most cards, and you win the game. A fun, fast-paced card game that will be the life of any party!

My daughter loves Hello Sunshine and the adorable plush sunshine named Sunny who comes with his/her (is Sunny a boy or a girl? hmmmm) own deck of cards tucked in a pocket in the back much like the popular Roll and Play that I reviewed some time ago.
Although this game is set for ages 18 months+ my four-year old still adores this game. Little ones learn the basics concepts like “on top of”, “next to” and “in front of” while older kids (pre-reading) enjoy the challenge of interpreting the cards themselves. My daughter loves to guess what the card means and then skips off to hide Sunny as directed. I love that this game could also allow siblings of varying ages to play together. The game itself is fun for the entire family and the stuffed sunshine sleeps with my daughter every night! Way to go ThinkFun. I think you hit this one out of the park. Congratulations on your Parent’s Choice Gold Award!
