Healthy Pink and Red Foods for Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day can be loads of fun for everyone’s dieting needs. Even if you are trying to make healthy choices during this holiday which offers a lot of candy options, it doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate with something special! Here are a few healthy pink and red foods for Valentine’s Day so you can still enjoy the spirit of the holiday.

Pancakes make a great breakfast food! Why not color them pink for Valentine’s Day? You can color pancakes by adding a fruit that is the color you’d like them to be. Mix up your batter as you normally would, and then add in some strawberries to make them a pink color. Put the mix in the blender and be sure to blend well so that there are no chunks. Cook as you normally would and enjoy your pink pancakes!

Colored Pasta

Adding food coloring to pasta while it is boiling will color the noodles. If you would like to make and entirely pink meal, plan to make Alfredo for dinner and color the noodles as described above and add in a few drops to the sauce. Raspberry Smoothie

Heart Shaped Tomato Pizza

Pita Pizzas are a great alternative to ordering out. Just purchase some pita bread and the usual toppings that you enjoy, place the sauce on, then toppings, and bake in the oven at 350 degrees until the bread is to your desired crispiness. You can cut the bread into a heart shape, as well as the pepperoni by using heart shaped cutters.

Pomegranate Ice

Pomegranate ice! Yum! One of the best after dinner desserts to enjoy on Valentine’s Day is this delicious frozen treat. Whip up a pomegranate smoothie such as this one listed on Tastes Better From Scratch. Take that smoothie and let it sit in the freezer for a few hours to let it turn into a super healthy and tasty treat after dinner.

Frozen Red Grapes

For quick frozen treat, put some red grapes in the freezer. A healthy snack for valentine’s day and super easy to make!

Watermelon

Watermelon is a healthy snack any time of the day. For Valentine’s Day have a little fun by cutting the watermelon into various sized hearts using cookie cutters.You could even use hugs and kiss, lips, and more with a Valentine’s Day themed cookie cutter set.

  1. I typically make homemade cheese and dye it pink and then make heart shaped grilled cheese sandwiches. I also saw that Cosco in my area has heart shaped ravioli. Might be something else to try 🙂 Love the idea of colored pasta

  2. Pretty neat ideas, never thought about adding a natural dye in food to change color for a holiday! That can be pretty neat for any holiday.
