*This post is brought to you in partnership with Schoola. Thoughts are my own.*
A couple of weeks ago I shared with you just how important I think the arts are in a child’s life. My almost 8 year old son ha been taking private piano lessons for over two years, and I’m so thankful for all it has taught him. (It is more than just learning the piano!) I find it so disappointing to learn that many schools are struggling financially and budgets for the arts are being cut. Many schools like Kipp Academy in the Bronx are looking for other ways in which to fun their programs and keep the arts alive!
Schoola wants to help by taking outgrown, slightly used children’s clothing and turning it into cash for school programs! In case you missed my last post, here is a breakdown explaining the program.
What is Schoola?
Schoola is an online shop that recycles brand-name children’s clothes. A whopping 40% of the proceeds going to schools in need. The is an innovative new program has been heralded by Fox News, the LA Times, Forbes and Parenting Magazine.
20 Days of Schoola
“20 Days of Schoola” Adopt-a-School and focuses on “adopting” one of two schools who would greatly benefit from additional funds to bring or bolster creative programs. There are only a few days left in which to help these particular schools out!
My Sponsored School
Because of my personal connection with music programs, I chose to sponsor KIPP Academy.
KIPP Academy – Goal: $25,000 to fund the music program
A small school in the Bronx, KIPP Academy works hard to support kids who need all the help they can get. Ninety-five percent of its students qualify for free or reduced-cost lunch. More than one in seven receives special education services. Music helps KIPP Academy reach and engage every child who enters its doors. The slogan on the Music Room wall sets the stage—All of Us Will Learn Music. No matter what backgrounds they come from or what challenges they face, they learn lessons together that will serve them the rest of their lives.
How you can help:
Shop on Schoola. For every transaction clicked through my link, Schoola will donate $1 to KIPP Academy!
Request a Schoola donation bag. For every person who requests a Schoola donation bag via my unique referral code, Schoola will donate $1 to the school.
Donate with Schoola donation bag. When you donate clothes and fill out the school information, $2 of every $5 made will go back to the school YOU chose to support.
Help schools by participating in all of one of these options!
For fun, I browsed Schoola for my boys. I found some cute name brand Halloween longs sleeved t-shirts that would fit my three guys perfectly. And because they are only worn for a short period of time, they are a great option to purchase and benefit another school. After my boys are done with them, I can donate them back to Schoola to help our school. And even better, I can get all three for under $15!
