I honestly don’t know how I would have hosted the holidays so easily without my new Frigidaire Gallery® Range with Symmetry™ Double Oven. Typically we celebrate with a Christmas Eve party and Christmas dinner at my parents house but this year we had both at mine. Coordinating the timing of everything was hard enough with two ovens and I can’t imagine what that would have been like without them. I’m thinking we would have had several things lukewarm or I would have had to pull out the crockpots to keep stuff warm. Getting everything right from the oven was much better!
Our Christmas Eve party included such hot goodies as my favorite marinated chicken wings and bacon wrapped weiners, both of which were able to be finished about the same time. While the weiners finished a bit sooner, we could put the bottom oven on keep warm until the wings were done.
Christmas Day was filled with fresh breakfast breads (made by mom), scrambled eggs and sausage for breakfast which turned out wonderful because I had two 9 inch burners that could be used on my stovetop.
Our dinner included such delights as ham, sausage stuffing, mashed potatoes, crescent rolls, green beans and my husband Joe added ribeye steaks to the mix. This could not have been done if we didn’t have my double oven. After we pulled the ham, Joe cooked the steaks on broil in the top oven while the stuffing and then the crescent rolls baked on the bottom.
The day after Christmas I served this cherry cream cheese danish for breakfast which was a big hit all around.
And with all the holiday leftovers, my stovetop was my companion as I made split pea soup for the very first time. Up until this point, I’ve never been blessed with a ham bone in which to make it and it was such a treat!
I know I talked about a lot of the features of my new oven but I’m going to share just a few of my favorites that I haven’t yet mentioned.
The bottom rack includes a dip which allows for larger items to be included in the oven. We had absolutely no problems with our large ham fitting in the oven and I can see how a 28lb turkey can fit in both of the ovens.
I also love that you can set the bake time for any item which then can be kept warm until you are ready for them. There is a quick preheat option which will have your oven preheated in four minutes or less but I find that on items which cook for a shorter length of time are best preheated on the regular settings as it doesn’t quite seem as hot when you put them in. But I’m also in love with the timer feature which allows me to add a minute with a click of a button at any time during the cooking process, even if the timer has already gone off.
All in all, I love my new stove and can’t image giving back the conveniences that I’ve now grown accustomed.
