If you want to encourage creativity in your child, consider enrolling them in piano lessons. Learning how to play the piano can teach your child many important lessons that can help them later in life. Your child might even take such a shine to piano that they become a famous pianist one day!
Improving Discipline and Patience
A good piano player must have solid discipline to succeed. Mastering a piano piece is a challenge for most people. Good piano skills requires hours of practice that can sometimes feel tedious. Your child will quickly learn that he must put in the proper practice time to improve his playing ability. Cultivating discipline can help your child to succeed in other areas of his life, including school.
Creativity Boost
Piano lessons can offer your child a new avenue of artistic expression and exploration. Playing the piano is similar to any other creative hobby, such as painting. Once your child has reached a certain skill level, she can begin to create her own musical pieces. This growing creativity can even extend into other areas of your child’s life, such as homework or other hobbies.
Pride and Accomplishment
Mastering the piano gives anyone, including children, a sense of pride and accomplishment. For children that may be struggling in school, this can help to boost a child’s confidence. No matter what grade a child gets in school, she will feel confident in her musical abilities.
New Social Experiences
Taking lessons from a piano teacher can open the door to new social experiences for children. Many piano teachers offer regular recitals for their students. These fun events provide a great social experience for all of the teacher’s students; your child might make a new friend at the recital. If your child’s school offers any kind of musical club, your child can also meet new friends there.
Have Fun
In addition to all the wonderful benefits that come from learning to play the piano, your child will have plenty of fun while practicing and playing. Playing the piano is a hobby that can bring the same feeling of joy that also comes from playing video games, reading books or playing with dolls.
Learning the piano can help your children nourish their creative spirits, introduce them to new social activities, and encourage the development of discipline. Playing the piano is a worthwhile endeavor for any child who wants to develop a new hobby.

My husband and I have decided to save up some money and put my almost 5 year old in piano lessons! I really think she’ll love it. I never played any kind of instrument and really regret it as an adult!

I’ve also read that learning to play and read music improves math skills because there’s apparently a similarity between the two in how the brain functions.
