I never grew up with allergies. I always felt bad for those that suffered, but I never thought I’d be one of them. Until I was in my late twenties, I’d never had any kind of allergic reaction to anything. It started out slowly and gradually built up intensity. A few years ago I posed the question on Facebook, “What should I take for my allergies?” I was absolutely miserable, and the random over-the-counter medicine wasn’t cutting it for me. In fact, I couldn’t really tell that I was taking anything at all. The last thing I wanted was to do was take anything that would make me sleepy or leave me feeling drugged. The overwhelming response to try ZYRTEC®. And so I did and immediately felt relief. I found if I took it daily during my worst times which was essentially all seasons but winter, I had minimal symptoms and no side effects.
Life was good until I got pregnant with my third child. My allergies intensified and have only gotten worse. Last year was my worst year yet. I suffer through most seasons, but when ragweed hit last summer, I wanted someone to simply put me in a coma and wake me up when it was over. I feel like each year I’m discovering new things that set me off. And I honestly don’t know what I would do without my daily dose of ZYRTEC®. On my more mild days, I can’t see any symptoms at all. ZYRTEC® provides 24-hour relief of allergy symptoms, and I know when I’ve gone over my 24 hour mark because my symptoms start coming back. On my worst days, it makes my days more bearable and cuts out a lot of symptoms when used in conjunction with prescription medication.
Last week I took my boys out in our large backyard to do some exploring. We spent less than an hour outside and enjoyed nature. I loved this time, but I suffered for it the next day.
Was it the lilacs that set me off?
The mowed grass that punished me?
On Saturday I woke up to this. This is my ALLERGY FACE®. It is horrible. I don’t like to go out in public like this as most people give me strange looks.
I take my ZYRTEC® in the morning however, and within a couple hours my eyes had gone from bright red to just irritated. This symptom is entirely new to me. Typically I deal with a very itchy face, especially my nose and upper lip, so that area is usually red. During ragweed season I sneeze constantly. I deal with watery, itchy eyes and a runny nose. I’ve joked that I simply want to rub my face off. And my face seriously suffers for it.
I’m not the only one suffering from these symptoms. In an effort to help allergy sufferers with ALLERGY FACE®, ZYRTEC® has teamed up with celebrity makeup artist Jamie Greenberg. She has created six makeup “looks” perfect for allergy sufferers trying to look their best while trying to combat beauty challenges such as watery eyes, red nose and a puffy face.
