Making Memories with Summer Travel #DiscoveritMiles

Last summer was a summer of travel for me. Our family vacation was only a week long, but we packed it full of adventures. We started out with a Disney Cruise aboard the Disney Dream, courtesy of Disney Cruise Lines, and then we went over to Walt Disney World to enjoy what the parks had to offer. They were very different experiences but both were quite magical.

We paid for our room, park passes and meal plan upfront which took a lot of the guesswork out of how much it would cost. With low interest rates and a cashback bonus, it was a simple way for my husband to pay for our unexpected trip.

Our kids are still talking about how much fun we had a year later. We can’t wait to go back!

This year however, we decided to take a road trip from our home in Minnesota to Massachusetts to visit my husband’s brother and his family. It was our first long road trip as a family and took three days. We did make some stops along the way, including taking a shortcut through Canada and checking out Niagara Falls from the Canada side. We stopped at the Skylon Tower for dinner and made our way to the observation deck to take in the amazing view!

The following day we made it to my brother’s house in time to miss rush hour traffic. We’ve spent the last several days here, enjoying Battleship Cove, Beavertail Lighthouse in Jamestown, RI and the local beach. We’ve also enjoyed quality family time making (and popping) huge bubbles, shooting off homemade bottle rockets and eating fabulous food. It has been a great week of memories so far and I’m a little sad to say we will be headed home today.

We love to explore as a family. These special memories that we are creating through our vacations are really priceless. While paying for summer travel isn’t fun, we try to make it as painless as possible and earn rewards on our travel spending.
