My son Kurtis loves working with his hands.  He is his father’s child through and through.  Always fixing things and building things.  He loves tools.  He loves to create and recreate.  He loves to go into the workshop with his Dad and “work”.  It is a passion that I want to continue to feed and inspire as I hope he never loses it.

Modarri sent me some of their awesome cars and accessories which are the perfect toy to support Kurt’s creative mind.  These buildable cars come in pieces with a hex screwdriver included for assembly.  The parts easily fit together and was simple enough for my almost 7 year old to do with ease.  Once you have a fully assembled car, you can then “drive” it with an index finger.  The suspension and steering make it fun and easy to drive.

Kurtis put together the X1 Camo car which is part of their Dirt series.  He loves all things camo, so I knew this would be perfect

Kurt loved putting the pieces together.  My 9 year old daughter Danica claimed one of the cars for herself and put it together too.  We had great conversation about the suspension as I tried to explain what shocks were (it probably would have been a better conversation for them to have with their Dad).

Danica put together the S1 Street Car which is part of the street series.  Her favorite color is blue so this car was just screaming her name.  When she looked at the box though, her eyes lit up when seeing the S1 Beach Cruiser.  Maybe I will have to get that one as a gift later.

Once they had the cars all put together, they decided to take them apart and customize with the accesorie sets we received.  Kurtis put on the S1 Chrome body pack on his X1 Camo Car.  He then added the orange wheels from the wheel pack.

Danica decided her S1 Street Car looked better with the black wheels from the Wheel pack.

Both of them had a lot of fun driving the cars around with their fingers.  The wheels have a nice rubbery grip so they don’t slide out from under them.  The wheels turn as they lean the cars from one side to the other.  It took them a few tries to figure out the steering aspect.

These cars are great for letting my kids use their hands and enhance their creativity as they explore the different combinations of the parts of the cars.  It opens up a world of conversation about the different parts of the cars and how they work.  I love that they were easy enough for them to put together and the screws are held in place with plastic disks so they don’t fall out of the holes as they are trying to screw them in.  We had a lot of conversation about lefty loosy, righty tighty.

At present time Modarri offers 6 different cars to be bought individually in 3 different catagories: Dirt, Track, and Street, and another 3 cars available in a combo pack.  They also offer 3 different body packs ($10.00) and one wheel pack ($6.00) which contains 2 sets of wheels.  I hope they continue to increase they cars and accessories available though the possibilities are endless as you can mix and match the parts from all of the different cars.
