Summer is quickly winding down. I know many children have already gone back to school. Mine still have a couple of weeks to enjoy the hot summer days of August. We have been making every effort to enjoy the last few weeks here. The kids love playing in their little pool in the yard, and when they are finished they often ask me for a snack. Wonka asked me to Wonkafy one of my favorite recipes to be shared with their new Wonka Peel-a-Pop frozen treats. This made for the perfect after pool treat for my kids.
When I thought of how to Wonkafy a recipe, I immediately thought of Wonka candy and what I could do with it. I thought Marshmallow Krispy Treats topped with WONKA candy would be perfect. My kids were so excited to help with my creation.
I used a Marshmallow Treats Recipe from allrecipes.com. See the original recipe here.
- ¼ cup butter
- 4 cups miniature marshmallows
- 5 cups crisp rice cereal
- Wonka candies
- Melt butter in large sauce pan over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until melted and well-blended. Cook 2 minutes longer, stirring constantly. Remove from heat.
- Add cereal. Stir until well coated.
- Using buttered spatula or waxed paper, press mixture evenly and firmly in buttered 13 x 9 inch pan.
- Top with WONKA candies while still warm. You may need to push them in a little.
- Cut into 2 x 2 inch squares when cool.

Since I had the Mini Marshmallows out, I decided to make some quick Toothy Apple Smiles too. I had just recently seen these shared on Facebook (original source unknown). There really isn’t a recipe but rather a few easy steps.
- Slice apples
- Spread with peanut butter
- Line with marshmallows
- Place 2nd apple slice on top
We decided to make these a little more fun too by adding WONKA Bottle Caps as rotten teeth. The kids thought they were very funny and they tasted great too.
We served our creations with WONKA’s new Peel-a-Pop Frozen Treats. These new treats are only 70 calories each making them a snack I can feel good about serving.
The kids were extremely excited to try them out. Offered in Vanilla Banana and Vanilla Grape flavors, my kids were split on what they wanted to try so we tried some of each. Though they liked the idea of it, they looked at them and weren’t sure how to peel them and insisted that I get them started for all of them. Danica insists that the banana ones taste like frozen pudding. I didn’t think the grape ones had a very strong grape flavor, but they were good.
The inside of the pops are great, but we all agreed that the peel portion of the pops has a strange gummy consistency that we didn’t care for. The taste was good, just a strange consistency. My husband tried one too and he thought it was great and that the consistency was fine.
