I’m not afraid to admit that I am in desperate need of organization. In fact, I crave it and get very excited when I discover tools to make it simple and easier for me. I’m not a naturally organized and neat person. I certainly want to be but I struggle as you can see…
I am a bit embarrassed to admit this cupboard with spices was actually mine just a few weeks ago. What is wrong with this picture? Besides needing to simply go through it all and throw old things away, I was desperate for a better system for my spices. I was wasting too much time trying to find spices that I didn’t use as often. If it wasn’t in front, I had go digging. Not fun. Not fun at all.
So naturally when I saw this interesting and unique spice rack my eyes got as round as saucers. I actually had to show my husband right away. Can you blame me? It was a great answer to my problem!
This is the Chef’s Edition SpiceStack® from YouCopia. It organizes a whopping 30 full size (60 half size) spice bottles in the kitchen cabinet.
How does it do it?
Clever drawers lower to display labels at eye-level, so you can quickly find your spices while cooking.
The SpiceStack was just the push I needed to go through this cabinet and chuck anything I didn’t need. But most importantly, it helped me set up a system for making it quick and painless to find spices and keep those spices organized. So much better, right?
For the first time I was actually excited to organize my cabinet because I knew I could keep it looking this way. My favorite feature are the pull out drawers which are uniquely designed to open out, then down at an angle. This keeps them at eye level and allows you to look at all the spices in that drawer at once. It is very simple to open and close.
The unit also has non-skid feet to in place and is stackable. It even comes fully assembled! I love that they include a sheet of preprinted labels of popular spices and a sheet of blank labels. I haven’t yet used these because I’m waiting to see what kind of system I want for my SpiceStack. I wasn’t sure if I would like them arranged by my most used spices, alphabetical or broken down between sweet and savory. Choices, choices.
The unit measures 12.8 W x 8.7 H x 10.9 L inches, weighs less than 5 lbs., and fits inside modern kitchen cabinets. If you are looking for something that will fit in a more narrow cupboard, the smaller Original SpiceStack ($29.95) holds 18 bottles and measures 8.0 W x 8.5 H x 10.9 L inches.
The only downside is it doesn’t odd shapes, like the Archer Farms Rosemary you see in the picture above. The other issue for me is only medium and small spices can fit in the second row of each drawer. I tend to have larger jars of spices so I do have a couple of jars I can’t put in the rack even though I have a few spaces left. The solution to that is fairly simple however. I just need another unit to sit beside this one!
The Chef’s Edition SpiceStack® from YouCopia has a retail price of $44.95. Besides purchasing directly from YouCopia, it can also be found at retailers such as Bed, Bath and Beyond and Sur La Table or online from our affliate Amazon.
