Do you celebrate all of your babies firsts? First smile, first tooth, first words, first haircut. You name it, they are all monumental events in the life of your babies. My daughter Danica hit all of her “firsts” right on time and some even early. She started talking REALLY young. I thought “yes, I am a genius, my daughter is perfect”. Two years later I had my first son Kurtis and I was in for a real eye opener. He was not delayed in any way, but he definitely hit different firsts at different times. He was extremely coordinated and able to use his hands for things very early, but I thought he would NEVER talk. He was around 2 before he really said much of anything. I was just sure that I had failed him completely. What did I do wrong? Nothing. I have now learned that every baby hits these milestones or firsts at their own pace, and while what I do certainly can influence some of them, there are some things that just come in their own time.
Now with my 4th and I believe final baby Delaney I find myself very patient about her firsts. I think I just want to keep her a baby forever and savor every little moment and every cuddle. Pampers sent me a great “Celebrating Firsts” gift package to help us enjoy her firsts. Hopefully this can help me accept that I can’t keep her a baby forever. She is growing up. At 10 months now her latest first is pulling herself up to standing by the toybox and helping herself to the contents. I am not ready for this. I know this means she will be walking soon and just one step closer to being a toddler, not my tiny baby anymore. Sigh…
One first that has been consistent for all 4 of my children is their first diapers. They were all put straight into Pampers Swaddlers at the hospital when they were born. When my first, Danica, was born I had a variety of diapers at home, but we first put her into Pampers. I felt that if the hospital trusted them, so should I. I was not disappointed. We have not always used exclusively Pampers with our children, but they have all started out with them until they were a little older.
Now Pampers is offering their Swaddlers in larger sizes!
Pampers Swaddlers are Pampers’ softest diaper ever, and while moms have always loved Swaddlers for their newborns, Swaddlers are now available through size 5! Which means, baby can stay in the diaper mom loves throughout her baby’s diapering years.

My most memorable first was when my youngest son looked up at me as we cuddled and he patted my cheek and then turned my face to look RIGHT him square in the eyes and said, Mommy I “wike” you. He was two. I remember because I realized how thrown around the word love is…I LOVE this song, I LOVE this dessert, I LOVE that dress or LOVE that artwork. And kids overuse it because WE overuse it. So, it really meant a lot to me and will never forget it.

I loved seeing the bond my son and hubby had right after birth. The first time they saw each other they locked on to one another by eyes… We brought him home 2 days after he was born, we walk in the door and he begins to fuss. My hubby took him out of the car seat and held him.. they both fell asleep and that was a sweet first mom and is still the best picture of them ( I was able to snap a picture)
