Peg Perego Skate Stroller System {Bump to Baby Giveaway} CLOSED

With my third child on the way, one of my must get items included a new travel system. My previous car seat is too old for safety reasons and my last stroller was a double which with a 5 and an active soon to be 4 year old, is no longer necessary. It also was a beast and was very difficult to turn in tight situations.  I was searching for a system which included both a car seat and a stroller which would be easy to fold and simple to maneuver.  And dare I admit that I was really hoping for one which was not only very functional but  looked modern and stylish. I got that and more with the Peg Perego Skate System and compatible Primo Viaggio SIP 30-30 car seat.  Isn’t she a beauty?
The components of the Skate System include:

  • Skate chassis.
  • Skate carriage bassinet.
  • Skate stroller seat.
  • Basket/Carry-all.
  • Primo Viaggio SIP 30-30 adaptors.
  • Hood and boot can be used on stroller seat or bassinet.
  • Rain cover.
  • Large capacity adult cup holder

My husband put the Skate System together using the instructions and was showing me all the features in no time! He was as excited as I was when he saw it put together and was pushing it around our house. He likened this stroller system as being upgraded to a mustang of strollers! I couldn’t agree more and it was fun to see him as thrilled about the quality of the system as I was.

This system includes a high performing chassis with modular piece height adjustments (three no less!), centralized brake and suspension and ball bearings which essentially amounts to a stroller which offers a smooth ride and corners like you wouldn’t believe. I will freely admit I was giddy pushing this around. My three year old actually wanted to ride in this which says a lot given he has refused to use a stroller for over a year now. (It might have also helped that his favorite color is red!)

The set includes a removable basket/carry all which has enough space for the essentials or simply remove it and add your diaper bag or shopping bags below. While the basket isn’t as large as some I’ve encountered, I feel this will be plenty of space for our needs and will looks more stylish than a built in basket.

Also included is a removable front bar which opens with a click of a button and is simple to reattach.  I am happy to ditch a front tray like our older single stroller as I found it provided little functionality and simply became another place to get dirty. Also included is a 5 point safety harness.

The height adjustable handle bar is a welcome addition for my tall husband and for myself.  It is always nice to have options for not only height but also direction of the handle bars as well. These padded ones are soft and very ergonomic, not to mention easy to change with the flip of a switch.

The Skate System features a comfortable Tilt–n–space recline adjustment.  Simply pull on the lever in the back of the seat and you can tilt it to whatever level is most comfortable for your child.
This will be a fabulous feature with a sleeping child versus those awkward head nods or strange neck positions. The seat also reverses to face forward or back so you can choose to have your child facing you or out to the world!
Switching over to the portable bassinet is simple and can be used with the the removable zippered hood and boot cover. I love that the boot cover is multifuctional through all stages of the system! Classy, right?

Pram features include:

  • Stands alone and has convenient carrying handle; can be used as a portable bassinet.
  • Backrest with easy–to–reach exterior adjustment.
  • 3 position height adjustment on chassis.
  • Type approved for children from birth.
  • Hood with loop to dangle baby’s favorite toy.
  • Utilize full hood and zippered boot.

While a car seat isn’t included with this system, a compatible one is offered by Peg Perego and the adaptors do come with the set.  Simple change the position and add the adaptors before locking the seat in place.

The Primo Viaggio SIP 30-30 car seat fits infants from 5 to 30 pounds or 30 inches, whichever comes first. Qualified to the most stringent safety standards in the world. Side Impact Protection certified to EuroNCap tests.

Features include:

  • Travel System compatible — the perfect complement to a Peg Perego stroller.
  • Exceeds the most stringent Side Impact Protection test in the world.
  • Adjustable Side Impact Protection is easy to adjust in 5 vertical positions.
  • Headrest and padding made of soft “Comfort dry” microfiber cloth that stays comfortably dry and allows proper ventilation.
  • Includes a secure Latch system base (additional bases sold separately).
  • Quick–release 5–point safety harness with shoulder pads and fail–safe buckle.
  • Includes a special removable cushion for newborns.
  • Adjustable handle with rubber grip for ease and use.
  • Two ways to fasten to the car: with the vehicle seat belt or with Latch System Base.
  • Use with or without the LATCH base system
  • Adjustable hood protects baby from the sun and elements during transport.
  • Indicator level shows correct installation angle.
  • Variety of upholstery choices to match your Peg Perego stroller.
  • Certified for use in automobiles or aircraft.

This car seat is plush and works fabulously with the stroller. The fabric is high end and the padding makes it seem so comfortable for baby. And because this set is sold together, I don’t have to worry about safety concerns with after market products which weren’t safety tested with the seat itself.
The five point safety harness is easy to buckle and unbuckle and the seat itself is easy to remove with the lift of this lever in back. Of course it also includes the base to install into your vehicle.  The only thing that would keep me from buying this particular seat is the two tone red color scheme. While a majority of the car seats in this line include a two tone scheme, for me, red is one of those few colors where two different tones don’t look as well together.  Of course this is simply a personal preference and does not take away at all from the quality of the seat itself.

Just how slick this system works is hard to show only through pictures. This video does a fabulous job of showing you the features in more detail so I encourage you to take a look!

Overall we really are thrilled with our new travel system. The only downside I can see is the high price tag. However, if I were to splurge on an item for baby, the car seat and stroller would be where I would put my money. For as much as they get used and for safety reasons, it is amazing what an upgrade to a system like this will get you!

  1. i love this! it looks so comfortable and since i’m always going to my parents house almost every other weekend, the car ride is 2 hours and nicolas needs all the comfort he can get. Plus he loves traveling outside and we always go for walks… with the bumping side walks the fact that this has a cushioned harness just adds a million brownie points to it. I want and can’t afford it but hope i win it!
