If you are planning a kids party and you don’t want ‘It’s My Party and I’ll Cry if I Want To’ to be the theme, it pays to be prepared. Getting a group of
little terrors children together is dangerous enough without giving them cake, ice cream and candy and then letting them run around playing games, but they will do this whether you like it or not. You may as well relax and let them enjoy their party as much as they can, so plan a spectacular event and just hope you won’t be left cleaning up regurgitated party food at the end.
Step one to a great kids’ party is getting the outfits right. You might opt for kids designer clothes if you have some superstar wannabes. There are glamorous garments available for kids with aspirations of being the next Justin Bieber or Lady Gaga, but if the latter, the meat dress might not be the best choice for a kids party – especially if you have dogs. Another option is provide dress up options for all guests. Pull out those old costumes, jewelry, fun hats, shoes and more and let them show off their new look! Consider taking pictures of all the guests in their fun outfits and sharing them after the party is over.
Choose delightful decorations
Kids are thankfully easy to impress decor-wise as they will be too busy tormenting each other and driving you wild to pay much attention to what the room looks like. However, their friends parents will notice so of course you want your event to look great. So, invest in some banners, balloons and other party decorations and show those parents who’s the daddy…or the mommy. Save money by using toys you already own that work into your theme. For example, line tables with toy dinosaurs if you have a pre-historic theme!
Offer an activity
While many kids are happy to entertain themselves, it helps to have an activity that all children can center around. This may include splurging on a bounce house or water slide which is sure to give hours of fun if you have the outdoor space and nice weather. Inexpensive options may include a string pinata (to avoid any injuries with the bat), a fun craft that the children can take home or choosing a fun meal option that kids can create themselves such as build your own pizza or sundae bar.
With a little planning, it is easy to create a party that children can enjoy and allow adults to keep their sanity!
