When you think of Proflowers you probably immediately think of the obvious, flowers of course. And while flowers are a wonderful gift to receive, lately I’ve been appreciating edible gifts I can enjoy with my taste buds. When Proflowers offered me a complimentary gift, I immediately went searching for a fruit basket and found the Special Treasures Gift Basket.
This basket drew my attention because we are a fruit loving family but also go nuts over cheese and crackers. I like that this basket had a little bit of everything, including some sweet and salty snacks.
- 3 oz Cinnamon Almonds
- 3 oz Dark Chocolate Covered Almonds
- 3 oz Honey Roasted Peanuts
- 3 oz Butter Toffee Pecans
- Demitasse Petit Fours
- 2 oz Olive Oil/Sea Salt Crackers
- 4 oz Wisconsin Cheddar Cheese Round
- 2 Comice or D’Anjou Pears
- 2 Red Sensation Pears
- 4 Fuji Apples
The biggest hit with this basket was definitely the apples and pears! The apples arrived crisp and perfect for eating. I do recommend immediately putting them in the refrigerator however. A couple of ours hidden at the bottom of the basket were left out a couple of days and weren’t nearly as crisp as the first we ate, however they were still good.
The pears we left out for several days to get good and ripe. Once they were tender and smelled heavenly, we cut into them and found such a delectable treat. The four of us devoured two of them and wished we had ripened all four at the same time!
We really enjoyed all the snacks included as well. I dug into the honey roasted peanuts while my husband really liked the chocolate covered almonds and cheese. The petit fours were really a surprise as well as I had assumed they wouldn’t taste all that fresh or flavorful. I was very wrong! The green icing held a wonderful vanilla cake and frosting while the pink was a lemon. Both of my boys wished there were more in the basket!
I ate the crackers for a snack and I polished them off. However, I found them to be rather bland and better accompanied with some type of cheese or dip. I couldn’t taste the olive oil or the sea salt and felt they were there more to emphasize the flavors of whatever they are served with.
My only slight disappointment was with the size of the bagged snacks. Weight is included in the description but that can be hard to judge. In the picture there appeared to be a larger portion. They tasted great however and I’m very pleased with the overall look, taste and quality of the basket as a whole.
While we all think of sending flowers and candy for holidays like Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day, consider other holidays to show loved ones you are thinking about them. Have you considered sending some Easter chocolate gifts? I absolutely adore the Chick Box with Chocolate Covered Easter Crispie Pops. That would put a smile on anyone’s face!
The Special Treasures Gift Basket retails for $59.99 but you can get an even better value by upgrading your basket to the deluxe version for and additional $10 and using a Proflowers Coupon Code to save even more. Right now you can save 20% off orders of $39 or more!
Disclosure: I received a sample for the purpose of this post however all thoughts remain my own.
