What would you do if you could “call in well”? Cold and flu season is in full swing, and here we are, using sick days. A full day off work and you spend it at home, miserable and sick. But what if you could call in well instead. An excused day from work, without using vacation time, to do whatever you want.
For me, this sounds like a dream. I am a stay at home mom, so even when I have a sick day, it is spent at home, with my kids. Not really a day off at all. Even if my husband stays home to take care of them while I am sick, I can still hear them as I lock myself in my room and try to rest. But what if I could call in well, and somehow magically be alone to do whatever I wanted? My list is endless of what I would do.
I think I would start with shopping.
I love my family, but sometimes a break would be heavenly. I would probably go to a couple of my favorite craft stores, maybe pick out some scrapbooking supplies to try out later.
Next, I would arrange lunch with friends, maybe meet my old coworkers for Chinese. Or my husband, or my sister, or any adult friend without their kids. Don’t get me wrong, I love their kids too, but this is my dream day right?
Then I would come home, put in a movie and take a nap. Just because I can. No laundry, no dishes. Just me, my tv, my couch and a nap. Next get up and do some scrapbooking, or sewing. Finally, dinner alone at the restaurant of my choosing with my husband.
I know it sounds too good to be true, but I can dream right. Realistically, if I had a day without my kids, it would probably be spent sorting toys and getting rid of broken ones, or sorting a kids closet to get rid of clothes that no longer fit. Not exactly my idea of fun, but this is what happens anytime my kids are actually gone for a few hours.
Now it’s your turn. What would you do with your day if you could “Call in Well”?
