I’ve been cheering on the U.S. Olympic Team from my living room since the games started. I’ll be honest that I haven’t been this involved in watching the games since I was a teenager. I tuned in to watch the snowboarding competitions at the start and got hooked. I’ve even done my best not to find out the results before I could catch them on prime time. (It certainly is more fun when you don’t know who will be standing on the podium!) And on many occasions I’ve found myself burying my face in my hands, nervous to look and see if someone from Team USA could bring home a medal. I find all of these athletes inspiring. How could I not?
And no matter whether they win gold, silver (like Noelle Pikus-Pace in Skeleton) or bronze, you’ll find me clapping for them on their amazing accomplishments.
I’ve also cheered for incredible athletes who came up short. Shaun White had an awesome qualifying round, only to make a couple of mistakes in the final and finish in 4th place and off the podium. It was hard for me to hear the emotion in his interview afterwards. And yet, I was so very proud of him as an athlete. To be labeled as the best in the world and a favorite for gold and to walk away with nothing, would be a bitter pill to swallow. He was still so gracious to all the other winners and had a great overall attitude. I couldn’t help but want to continue to cheer for him.
We also can’t forget about the upcoming Paralympic Winter Games featuring inspiring athletes. I’ll be tuning in to cheer them on as well, like Heath Calhoun in alpine skiing.
Show Your Support
If you’ve been watching the games too, you might have noticed the commercial from AT&T featuring the #ItsOurTime app. AT&T is a proud sponsor of Team USA and U.S. Paralympic Team, and they want to help us cheer on these inspiring athletes. By simply downloading the app, you can record yourself chanting U-S-A in support of our athletes! You will be emailed a link to your chant on the #ItsOurTime website and featured digitally, perhaps even in the next commercial!
In honor of these athletes that have worked so hard to earn their spot on Team USA and represent our nation, I have an awesome giveaway. One lucky reader will win a $150 Visa Gift card and a Team USA memorabilia package (t-shirt, signed pictures, etc.). This is a value of $250+!
