One of the many adjustments a new mom must make is adapting to her baby’s schedule or lack thereof. This will vary from baby to baby and can be difficult to keep track of. This task becomes even harder because of sleep deprivation, outside stressors and days that just seem to run together. Similac has designed a new app compatible with the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad called Similac Baby Journal that makes staying on top of baby’s needs just that much easier.
With the free Similac Baby Journal app, you can easily track baby’s eating, sleeping, and diaper changes. You can predict the next feeding time. And see connections between what goes in—and what comes out. When you know what to expect, you can make the most of your time. And your time together.
I downloaded the app to check it out first hand and fell in love with some of the features. Whether you are breastfeeding, formula feeding or a combination of both, this app will work for you. Because I breastfed my babies I tried that feature first. Simply select which breast your baby starts on and a timer will start counting the time on each breast (or one as the case may be). When your baby has stopped on that breast simply click on the stop feeding button and you’ll have recorded EXACTLY how long your baby was breastfeeding, each and every time. This makes it so easy to track how long your little one has been feeding and which breast to start on next time. Genius!
You can also track such things as diaper changes and sleep patterns. I’ll admit I chuckled a bit at the diaper change information that you can track with including the texture and color of you baby’s business and if the diaper leaked. I probably wouldn’t use these features much. (Why do I need need to track leaked diapers?) But more importantly, you can track how many diaper changes your baby has in a day and bowel movements. This would have been a great feature for my first two when they were newborns. Whenever my doctor would ask me how many diaper changes our baby went through in the day I’d have to start calculating it in my head. This takes all the guesswork out!
The Similac Baby Journal helps you manage all trends involving feeding, sleeping, diaper changes and growth. As an added bonus you can get tips and advice regarding these topics, get mom and dad tips and 24/7 expert feeding help with FeedingExpert Live.
This is a free app so if you have a baby at home, are expecting or do childcare, download this Similac Baby Journal app and give it a try. It just might help to give a little sanity back!
