This has truly been the most unbearable winter. I know we are not alone here in Northern Minnesota. All over the country we are having strange, crazy winter weather. We set a new record here this week, the most days in a row with temperatures below zero. I think it is 23 or 24 days. Craziness. My kids are going bonkers being cooped up in the house all the time. They love to play outside, summer or winter, but when it is THAT cold they just can’t safely play outside much. This leaves us looking for more active indoor activities.
The GiggleBellies sent us their Award Winning The GiggleBellies™ Musical Adventures music video DVD’s and I must say the timing was impecable. Just when we needed something new to do indoors, their videos came to the rescue and now my kids are singing and dancing!
SING. DANCE. LEARN! with The GiggleBellies. A super creative, and fresh twist to kid’s music video is finally here. This multi-award winning video series has become a top pick in households around the globe. The Volume #1 DVD is approximately 28 minutes and includes 9 animated videos, Volume #2 DVD is approximately 32 minutes and includes 13 animated videos, and the Sweet Songs & Lullabies DVD is approximately 32 minutes and includes 10 animated videos.
The GiggleBellies characters are adorable and vibrant. The fully 3D animated DVD is amazing to watch. The graphics are awesome. All of the videos are great, but I think my personal favorite is Volume #2 which features:
- Down By The Bay
- Busy Bumble Bee
- Head Shoulders Knees & Toes
- Colors Of The Rainbow
- If You’re Happy And You Know It
- Itsy Bisty Spider
- The Really Cool Space Team
- Mr. Sun
- Working On The Railroad
- Eat ‘Em All Up
- All The Little Raindrops
- Fly Away With Me
I think the kids and I preferred this video because the songs were more active ones such as Head Shoulders Knees and Toes and If You’re Happy an You Know It, which the kids like to act out. Volume 1 was great also, but Volume 2 has more of my kids personal favorites.
The one song I did REALLY love on Volume one was ABC Superstar. This GiggleBellie original sings the abc’s and also counts to 20. I found Kurtis mesmerized by this one as he is currently obsessed with learning his letters and counting. It flashes the letters and numbers on the screen as it says them with the song. It is slow enough that the kids are actually able to keep up and learn them as they are going through.
With whimsical song like “All The Little Raindrops” and “Imagine A Cloud,” youngsters are captivated by the sights and sounds of each GiggleBellies video. Lasting only two to four minutes, the music is timed to a child’s short attention span. Yet strung together a DVD of 9 or 10 music videos can last a half hour or can be started and stopped at any point. Parents are pleased the bold animation and sweet singing stimulates or soothes their child for a wake-up treat or a bedtime ritual.
The GiggleBellies Sweet Songs & Lullabies is the perfect DVD for right before bed. The soothing songs and slower moving graphics are great for lulling your little one to sleep. I can’t wait to pop this DVD in the next time my kids are not feeling well and just need something soothing to watch.
The one thing I did not love about these DVD’s is that they often stray from the classic lyrics of songs. This made it hard for my kids (and myself) to sing along as they were slightly altered from the originals for example: 5 Little Monkeys becomes “Five funny Monkeys jumping on the Jungle Bed, Nanas fell off and bumped his silly head.” I am sure once my kids get used to the different lyrics it will be fine, but at first it takes some getting used to.
One of our favorite parts of all of these DVD’s is the Bonus features. All 3 DVD’s include Printable Coloring pages, Illustrated Lyric Sheets, and MP3’s so you can create your own music CD or load to MP3 player. The boys were very excited to color their own versions of the colorful “Peanut” the Elephant character.
With our DVD’s we also received a plush Peanut the Elephant stuffed animal. He has become Delaney’s new sleeping friend. Kurtis likes playing with him too and said he wished we had some pretend peanuts to feed him like the ones he was eating in the “Peanut” song on Volume 1.
The DVD’s feature both classic songs and original GiggleBellie songs. My favorite of the originals is the “Great Big Ocean.” It has catchy lyrics and the graphics on the DVD such as the Jellyfish are amazing.
