The past several years I’ve enjoyed plenty of travel both by myself and with my family in tow. If there is one thing I’ve learned is a must, it is a nice set of luggage. The most recent upgrade I received as a gift from my parents was silver, one of my favorite colors. It was intended to only be a carry on only but ironically my first trip with it resulted in the bag being gate checked. Subsequently my pretty new carry on looked anything but new! Is it really any wonder that most people opt for black luggage?
I’ve also had a chance to look at the luggage that other travelers use and I’ve been dying to try out a hardside suitecase which seems extra durable and double wheeled casters for more manuverability. I got both those features and more with the Ebags EXO Hardside 24″ Spinner. Isn’t she a beauty?
Available in six colors, I wanted something that would stand out among the sea of black in baggage claim. I selected the green knowing that is not generally a popular luggage color and I naturally gravitated towards it.
I immediately noticed the tough 100% pure polycarbonate shell. It seems as though it can really take a beating and I plan to test that out the first chance I get. I love that the pattern reduces visible abrasion which is exactly what I was looking for in a piece of luggage. The handle slides easily up to a comfortable height and the handles located on the top and side fit nicely in my hands.
The zippers were very easy to grip and fairly easy to unzip. A Travel Sentry ® TSA recognized 3-dial combination lock is included for safe and secure packing. I’ve never had this feature in luggage before and love the idea!
The interior contains an open compartment with both a removable and adjustable divider and 5-point tie straps, giving me more ways to keep the contents organized and secure.
The top also allows for additional storage with a full zip around mesh liner.
I enjoyed testing out the double wheeled casters and couldn’t get over how easy it was to push around. (Neither could my boys who didn’t want to stop playing with it!) I only wish I had recieved it in time for my Mother’s Day getaway or that I could take it on my upcoming trip to New Jersey. Unfortunately I don’t plan on checking any luggage and this one is too big to carry on. Now I’m tempted to purchase the carry on just to have something that moves so effortlessly through the narrow aisles of the plane!
The only downside I can see with the hardside style is the lack of outside compartments. While this is not something that would matter to me for checked baggage, it could be a hassle on a carry on. That being said, I constantly have to remind myself not to load those compartments or else my bag does not fit in the overhead compartment. I’d have to try it out on a plane to say for certain. Perhaps the perfect excuse to buy the carry on!
