Getting a quick breakfast in the morning is a must with a newborn around. These days I wake up mostly exhausted rather than refreshed and the last thing I want to worry about is fixing myself breakfast. The new belVita breakfast biscuits from Kraft Foods is the perfect solution to my time crunch in the morning. Now if I wake up hungry but so does my baby, I can munch on these while he nurses. And because they have a whopping 18 grams of whole grains, I know I’m still getting a good breakfast for being a breastfeeding mother.
BelVita challenged me for 5 days to eat their biscuits for breakfast and share my experience. I received three flavors including Blueberry, Apples and Cinnamon, and Golden Oat. While I really enjoyed them all, my personal favorite was the oat. I typically ate my breakfast of biscuits with a yogurt for some dairy/protein and a small glass of juice. It worked perfect for filling me up and keeping me very satisfied until lunch. Lack of sleep makes it hard for me to judge whether I had extra energy but it seemed to help.
My husband enjoyed eating this as well, especially before working out. Often times he would eat two biscuits before a run and the other two when he returned. It helped to give him some fuel without filling him up. I even noticed him eating them as a snack before bed! He was disappointed this morning when he realized we were all out. (Sorry, honey.)
My two boys asked to eat them as well. When I set my breakfast up for these photos, my 4 year old walked by and snagged a bite when I wasn’t looking, hence the bite out of the biscuit above. Whenever my husband and I would open up a package you can bet he would stop by for some as well. My 5 year old refers to them as “crackies”, what my husband called them after he first took a bite because they are cross between a cookie and cracker. Sweet, crunchy and full of flavor!
We blew through our three boxes quite fast and even purchased another box from Target last week but I already need to purchase some more. Look for them in the cookie/cracker aisle. I found them next to the breakfast bars in my Target.
