When I think back to when I really became a fan of football it is fairly distinct. Growing up my dad always loved watching the games every week but I generally looked at it as rather boring and the Super Bowl was all about the food. When I was a freshman in college, the Vikings had a killer season. If you are a football fan you might remember the 1998 season where the Vikings became the number one ranked offense with then rookie Randy Moss. The offense was so explosive, so much fun to watch that I found myself enjoying the games. I started to love them so much I never wanted to miss game. And I’ve never looked back as a faithful fan, even when some years have been rather disappointing.
I found this picture of Lucian from four years ago for our own digital scrapbook. The title was “Bustin’ One Loose.”
Thanks to Grandma and Grandpa, I can watch the Vikings in style. I am watching close and learning to be a running back.
P.S. I feel a little bad for messing up the toys that Mommy and Daddy put away. But how can I learn to bulldoze through a pile if the toys are put away?
We’ve tried to share our purple pride with our boys so it is something we can all share together. They haven’t always known exactly who or what they were cheering for but there is something special about toddlers putting their arms up and shouting, “touchdown” right alone with us!
What better way to share the love of the game with someone special than with a trip to the Super Bowl?
