I would like to extend a warm welcome to my friend Tiffany who is my new Eco/Organic Living & Artsy Contributing Editor. With different interests and talents I know she will bring a fresh and new perspective to Baby Loving Mama. She is an absolute delight and I am certain you will grow to enjoy her spirit as I have.
Here are her answers to just a few questions I came up with in the interest of getting to know Tiffany better!
Tell us a little bit about yourself and your family.
Blissful Greetings!
I’m Tiffany, the newest contributing editor to BabyLovingMama. I am a Mama to a 3 three year old little girl, Aeowyn. She was gently born at home in a birth tub on Valentines day. I thought this was a pretty sweet birthday for a little girl, but also thought that someday some guy is going to have a lot of responsibility!
She is a fun-loving active girl. She has a great big heart and is a social butterfly. She only wears stretchy pant (or other stretchy bottoms) being that she is sensitive. The first thing she does once pants are on is a full squat – and if it doesn’t pass the full squat test the pants don’t fly. Geesh, who can blame her? You never know when you need to do a full squat in the middle of the day! She is a great little helper and I am surely blessed to be chosen as her mama! She is a great balance of girly and adventurous. A current past time of hers is digging worms in our garden and feeding our neighbors chickens. She loves to dress as a ballerina as well as get ridiculously dirty. She is crazy goofy – like her mama and daddy?- and so I’m sure I’ll be sharing more on the Adventures of Aeowyn.
I’m married to an amazing man, Alister. We have been married for almost 2 years, we have also been together for over 5 years now. I say often that I always needed a man like him to balance me. He is a crazy determined man. So much so that he just nearly finished a complete remodel (totally gutted) kitchen in 3 weeks to the day, pretty much all by himself with some aids! He is a very hard worker. He is the handy man I always wanted to have. I swear he can fix or do anything. I’m still amazed by it. He recently decided to go back to school. So this past semester was a bit of us stepping on each others toes being both in school. It is still exciting though. Having our daughter was a happy surprise, and through the transformation into and now in motherhood I have grown into the women I have always wanted to be. I love my family dearly.
I would call myself a Creator – I love to create. I’m a pretty handy women, so anything from baking, sewing, gardening – I’ve been known to hold some sheetrock up in my day as well- I love to do. I am currently finishing up my degree in Art Education and motherhood has allowed me to take my time in doing so. I first attended a prestigious private art school at that time I was trying to pursue my aspirations of being a fashion designer. Today I love love love to sew still and am in the process of starting my own company. I am now finishing up my degree at a state university. I love the Arts and have attended the NAEA (National Art Educators Association) convention and plan to do so again next year in Seattle!
I think I’m this odd mix of being really progressive and rather nerdy combined, add a bit of zest and you’ve made Tiffany!
What are you passionate about?
First off, I am simply passionate about life. Anyone who knows me, or sees me for that matter, can tell just how animated and happy-go-lucky I am. I am very passionate about the Arts and sharing the arts with others. I love doing art projects with kids, of course besides doing them myself. I’m a painter and a sewer among many things.
I am also extremely passionate about living well, all around, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. This passes into my love of Nature and being eco-conscious. Each one of us has such great power to vote on a daily basis on what and how we want our world to be. I hope to share some great eco ideas with you all!
And finally I am in love with birth. Yes, birth. Pregnant women are like goddess to me. I often refer to myself – and other mamas- as a Warrior Mama. We give life women! (There needs to be an ‘Amen Sista’ after that one) When I was pregnant with my daughter I knew what I didn’t want, that’s it. It really grew from there, I joined prenatal yoga and birthed with a Midwife and doula. We used cloth diapers and I breastfed (pretty much forever). Motherhood turned into exactly what I had been searching for- it empowered me.
What are five possessions that you couldn’t live without?
1. I think I would say my Kombucha tea. I’m pretty hooked on it. If you don’t know what kombucha is, it’s a fermented tea often called the elixir of life. Its so great for your body, boost immune system, metabolism, and it’s a great detoxifier. Though my brother calls it moldy juice. I think the taste is an acquired one, yet really delish.
2. Big earrings
3. Burts Bees Pomegranate replenishing lip balm
4. My Arbonne Bronzer
5. My sewing maching/art supplies
Your favorite guilty pleasure?
Oh boy, oh boy! Right now I can think of two. I hold dearly my Ben & Jerry’s Phish Food ice cream. If I could eat it everyday I would! But knowing that’s how I didn’t loose any baby weight after my daughter, I hold back. You see, my husband has a crazy metabolism and I swear looses weight when he eats. So when our daughter was born we ate pints almost daily of Ben & Jerry’s…enough said. The other is a show called Weeds, we watch on our Netflix and are currently waiting for season 6 to come…If I had Weeds AND eat a pint of B&J…I am in heaven! Actually right now we just started watching Lost. Totally late to the game with this one, still its totally a guilty pleasure.
Your least favorite trait?
I am really emotional – I know its kinda silly. But I can seriously cry at the drop of a hat. I blame it on motherhood. I cry when I see something happy or something sad – its weird. My husband would second this!
How do you unwind after a long day?
I love to just sit. If all I did was sit, sit still, that would feel so good. Taking a hot bath with lavender or eucalyptus really does it for me too… and then an episode of Lost.
What is your dream job?
My dream job would be to have something to do with artist endeavors of some sort and getting paid crazy good for it. I have such a love for Art and Birth that someday I wonder if I’ll be like Pam England and share birth art to others. I wouldn’t mind if my job let me travel too. wink wink I think over all it would let me spend time with my family. My family is so important to me.
Do you have any unusual talents?
Unusual, I don’t know, – I can speak German. I think that’s a talent. I’ve been speaking now for about nine years and have traveled abroad and to Germany twice now.
What are you looking forward to sharing with readers most of all?
Looking forward to sharing easy eco ideas, who knows maybe you’ll start a compost pile! And also fun artsy projects and ideas to do with kids. I also look forward to doing review and giveaways since I am new to the blogging world! Most of all, sharing what motherhood is happy, spontaneous, and sometimes down right insanity making. That’s just the beauty of it!
Peace and Love,
Tiffany
I would like to thank Tiffany for sharing just a small part of her life with us and hope you will join me in welcoming Tiffany to the team!

June 9, 2010 at 3:12 pmWelcome Tiffany! I look forward to your posts. Love love love all the pictures you included in your introduction! My husband is a handy-guy too and I love that. I’ve been documenting some of his renovation work on my blog.
As for the squat test, who can blame her? I didn’t wear jeans as a kid – I felt they were way too stiff and uncomfortable. I’m sure I drove my mother nuts, thankfully it was the 80’s and spandex was in. =)
