How much does it cost you to go to the mall? Think about it for a minute. Here is my assessment.
I have to drive about 15 minutes to get there, which is only travel time since it takes about 30-45 minutes to get the kids ready. I have to pack snacks, drinks, extra clothes, etc, along with getting them dressed and in the car. Of course there are the stops we have to make once we are there. They are like animals with their sense of smell because they can find the food court or any type of pretzel place or candy store. So we need drinks and some kind of snack, even though I brought stuff which is an easy $10-$20 right there!
Hopefully that keeps them entertained for me to go in the stores that I want to look at, but really, there is no time to try anything on, or look for more than 5-10 minutes in each store. It is almost like a covert operation to avoid any toy stores or places with any kid’s items, but it is like mission impossible. I end up getting something for them spending another $10-$20. If I’m lucky I get something that I came for in the first place so it is not a total waste. At least the kids are having fun.
Combine my extra expenses and gas, we are up to about $30-50. I know that does not happen every time, but hopefully this makes you think about shopping online instead. Think about it. You don’t have to go anywhere, you can shop whenever you want, and there are no extra expenses. Plus, you can save money by using online coupons.
