Sugar Skulls Craft

These easy sugar skulls are an awesome dollar store craft that will really make your Halloween decor pop this year. And even better, you don't have to be an amazing artist for painting sugar skulls. Simple patterns including swirls, dots, and flowers are all that is needed to create this eye-catching design!

Ingredients

  • 1 plastic skull This one is from the dollar store)
  • chalkboard paint
  • chalkboard markers white and purple
  • adhesive rhinestones
  • aerosol hairspray optional
  • wax paper to protect work surface
  • paintbrush

Instructions

  1. Protect work surface with wax paper if desired.

  2. Paint the plastic skull with black chalkboard paint using paint
    brush.

  3. Dry completely.

  4. Draw designs on black skull using chalkboard markers. Shown here is a
    combination of white and purple swirls, dots and flowers.

  5. Dry completely.

  6. Spray with aerosol hairspray about 6 inches from the skull surface to
    seal if desired.

  7. Apply rhinestones to teeth and center of eye sockets.
