I love Not Me! Monday created by My Charming Kids so I’ll take this time to reflect on what I did not do this past week. Please take a moment to visit MckMama’s blog see what she has not been up to herself.
On Father’s Day I didn’t think it was funny when our youngest started bouncing on daddy’s back. I didn’t find it so entertaining that I had to take some pictures of it. I of course would stop him since my hubby just ran a full marathon the day before and it was Father’s Day after all.

While waiting with the kids during the marathon on Saturday, I didn’t stuff my oldest full of strawberries just to keep him happy so that isn’t strawberry juice on his face in the picture below. I didn’t find myself gutting the strawberries I had just purchased for my husband on the course . I didn’t remove the stems with my fingers and end up wiping my hands on my dark capri pants because I was too nervous to think of using the wipes I had in the diaper bag. I would never be so distracted!
And speaking of the marathon, I didn’t in my “I’m so nervous for my husband because of the horrible heat and paranoid that somehow I am not going to make it in time to see him on the course” state that I would be distracted while driving and forget to take the correct turn. I didn’t go a few miles past only to realize the mistake. But thankfully if I did do this I was smart enough to turn back instead of taking a chance and going in the general direction and guessing where we might end up. This may have been one of those times I wish we had a GPS.
For the marathon I didn’t bring a bottle of Gatorade, water and energy chews at the request of my husband only to have him not want any of it. He may have been in a bad way at the 21 mile marker. Why did it have to be 83 degrees and humid? I WAS SO PROUD and happy that he finished even if it wasn’t under four hours as he originally wanted.
Lastly, I didn’t totally melt when my 2 1/2 year old son Lucian was playing his usual, I’m going to steal your nose (or ear, or eye, or hair, etc) game to have him instead grab something from my chest. When I asked him what he stole he didn’t say in his sweet little voice, “I stole your heart mama!” Yes, yes you did. Sigh…
So sweet…your son grabbing your heart! Great job on your hubby running a marathon…what a guy!

Stealing your heart is the most absolutely precious thing ever! That is a must for the baby book.
So sweet! I love the Not Me Monday idea. I might start this on my own blog. I agree, the stole your heart needs to go in the baby book! Love it!
Thanks for visiting my blog earlier. Love the "I stole your heart" story. So precious! Those are the moments to remember forever. ~Shelley
I must say first, so proud of your hubby.. I'm awed by people who FINISH marathons, never mind how long they take. Second, my heart actully lept into my throat when your son said what he did. What a great post, keep NOT doing what you're doing, your family seems to be turning out terrific.
