Welcome to this week’s edition of Aloha Friday.

In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.

Have you ever taken a picture that ended up freaking you out after you saw it?

Last weekend I took some great pictures of our three year old son Lucian playing in the yard. I got one shot that I feel is contest entering good. He looks so adorable and the clarity/colors on the photo are fabulous. Right after I took that shot my son got kind of upset with me for taking his picture (which he randomly does) and said, “Stop taking my picture, mommy!” I clicked another one as he was saying that and seriously this picture is freaking me out. He looks night of the living dead scary and freaky and not like him at all. I’ve thought about posting it but it just creeps me out. Have you ever taken one like this or perhaps caught the light in such a way that it looks like a ghost is in the picture? And would you post a picture like this of your son on your blog? Because I almost just want to delete it and yet I feel the need to share it so others can gasp and share my horror. I’m torn.

  1. YES..we have TONS of those! I take a lot of pictures b/c you never know what the kids are going to do! I wanna see the good picture though-post it!

  2. I have my camera set to take 3 pictures right in a row because my baby moves around so much, which means that I usually end up with at least 1 where he’s in the middle of turning or spitting and more often than not looking angry/deformed/violent/like he has no eyes. I delete those. But now I’m curious and I really want to see the one you took!

  3. Post it. I love unflattering pictures of children. Keeps things real. No one can be cute and adorable all the time. Lil’ D can be a ham one minute and a beast the next when getting his picture taken. Some of his crazy faces are the best. Hope you get to visit my Aloha post today. Aloha and take care.

  4. Yes, I have taken photos that when I saw them I happened to catch an expression that really was not in character for the person I was taking the picture of.

  5. YES…..I have several of my daughter that look just like my mom. It freaks me out because I lost my mom 3 years ago ….. It’s very sweet in a way, but always freaks me out first.
