Welcome to this week’s edition of Aloha Friday.
In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.
What is something that you really love about your home and something you really don’t like at all.
I love the charm of having a home from the 1930’s. There is TONS of character including arches, a breakfast nook and alcove. I love our gorgeous rock fireplace. What I hate is that there are tons of different rooms which makes it very hard to keep an eye on the kids if I’m in another room, such as the kitchen. I don’t like that our front entryway doesn’t really make sense since it is further away from the driveway and garage than the side door. And because of that, we have no hall closet where everyone enters the house. No good place for shoes or coats and everything is out in the open. And of course the age of the home makes other things tough. Like the fact that there are very few kitchen cabinets or that the shower isn’t enclosed. We even have a random sink (yes, just a sink) in one of the bedrooms upstairs.
Now it is your turn to share!
I love that we live out in the country. It’s so nice and homey, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I hate that I have a larger house, which makes cleaning h*ll!
I love the kitchen. I hate the sliding glass door which is broken.
I love having pool and I hate that we don´t have garden.
I love that our house has an open floor plan but @ the same time I hate that we don’t have a separate family room.
I love my kitchen – it’s nice and open and I can keep an eye on my daughter while cooking 🙂 I hate that my bedroom is small – I could use more space in there!
I love all of the fruit trees in the yard…and I hate the ants that seem to be in my bed (only 1 at a time tho) lol
I love the nursery. We chose a space theme for our little boy, and had a blast painting. I hate that we’re renting a basement apartment right now…and because of city zoning ordinances, we have no oven. No range. No nothing. Ok, to be fair, we do have a countertop convection oven that my husband’s grandma got for us, and a portable little butane stove. But what I wouldn’t give to be able to make a whole sheet of cookies at once!

(It looks better now that we finished things up and had a baby to put in there!)
I love that the cabinets were ALL built by my master crafstman husband. I have a place to put everything and I love it! (If I don’t have a place for it I donate stuff to charity until I do!)
I don’t like how much dog hair and dirt you see on our hardwood floors….gotta find a solution to that!
I love that our house is built in a place where you can still breathe fresh air.
I hate being able to go to the house only 10 days or even 5 days a month =(
I LOVE my hardwood floors. I do not like the carpets upstairs. I hope to change all the carpets out soon.
I love my open floorplan and my large kitchen island (even though it seems to always be a mess). I love my sewing room that my husband created for me. I love our large master bedroom and master bathroom. But…. I hate my small dining area. I have a large antique mahogany table that I picked up at an estate sale and it is really too large for the space. I hate living it town and having the neighbors so close. I wish I had a larger yard for my garden.
I love our open kitchen/family room area; and the fact that lots of people say that our house seems very friendly, homey and comfortable.
I hate that we have carpet and not wood floors (hope to change that soon); plus I hate that we have 2 floors instead of one level (it’s hard on my back).
Great question!
