Welcome to this week’s edition of Aloha Friday.
In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.
Do you ever find yourself making poor choices for yourself to benefit your kids?
I’ve been noticing I do this a lot with fruit. If we have a lot of fresh fruit in the house I’ll have some but if we start getting to the last couple of bananas for example, I won’t eat it because I want to save them for my kids, even if I want one. If I open up a can of peaches I won’t have any because If I don’t I can get four servings out of it and can serve it twice. I think I do this out of a combination of wanting to save money and to always have a lot of different fruit choices for my boys. I certainly would never run out of fruit since we have so many choices like fruit strips, fruit cups, etc. Why do I do this? My body needs the nutrition as well.
Do you do this type of stuff too?
Now it is your turn to share!
LOL, I hear ya! The fruit in the house is for the boys! I eat the veggies! I’m addicted to red peppers lately!
yep! I’m guilty of that too!
I agree, completely. Kids first always
I often do this. I will take the kids to the doctor as soon as they have a fever. When I was sick a few weeks back I had a fever for over a week and waited it out (of course I knew I had the flu and was best staying home), but do it for earaches just the same.
what are poor choices? LOL..
Never!
Just kidding…
all the time..
Yep, that’s what we moms do. We can’t even help it.
Yes I do this all the time. Especially with yogurt. I only get to eat what’s on the lids because I want to ensure it serves longer for them to have. I’ll not eat the bananas etc just to make sure they’ll have enough. I do know I need nutrition too, but it’s like it just happens naturally that I do this.
That’s what moms do. I have noticed that also. Almost all the mothers I know sacrifice their piece for their kids. That’s how they love their kids. So touching, but you have to take care of yourself also. This is a good post. Thanks.:)
Oh sure. Like the other folks who’ve commented, I’ll refrain from eating something that I’d rather them have, buy their clothes first, etc.
