Welcome to this week’s edition of Aloha Friday.
In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.
Is Mother’s Day important to you? Do you do something special to celebrate?
For me it is actually more important to me than my birthday. I don’t expect to be treated like a queen for the day but I do love a sentimental card and some sweet gestures. Being a mom is important to me and I place a higher value on Mother’s Day than really any other holiday. My husband learned that the hard way when he didn’t do anything the past couple of years. I know he took the boys to get cards yesterday so he isn’t going to make that mistake again! I told him before anything the boys pick out or make me will always be treasured. It doesn’t have to be expensive, just thoughtful.
We always go visit my family including my sister and spend some quality time together. Usually we go out to eat but this year my mom is preparing a feast. I get to bring the desserts! Yummy.
Now it is your turn!

I usually go visit my mom and MIL. This year will be a bit different since my MIL is no longer with us. Visiting her will take place at the cemetery.

Everyone around here is usually working. I recently lost my mother so I guess it will be a quiet day- which is fine for me.
Have a great Friday!

My Mom isn’t living close, and we don’t talk as much anymore… but, as a Mom with 2 young kids it has a whole new meaning.
I LOVE Mother’s Day because it is the one day that I have my sons all to myself. They are grown and no longer live with us. On Mother’s Day their girlfriends go spend time with their own mothers so I have my boys for the whole day. It’s the perfect gift!
Before I had kids I used to take my mom out for dinner and a movie.
Now, we mostly spend time together- what we do varies, it just matters that we are together.
My mother lives 3 states away, and my husband’s mother is in heaven along with all our grandmothers. So it’s kind of a sad day for us.
I wouldn’t say it’s hugely important but I do like it. We don’t live near our parents but I sent a card to each of our moms awhile ago and will definitely be calling them on Sunday. My husband is taking me out for breakfast. 🙂
It’s not an important event in our family, we might go out for a meal, but don’t usually make a fuss
Mother’s Day isn’t like it use to be around here because my husband and I both lost our mothers in 2006. I go to visit them at the cemetery a few days before to avoid the crowds, and brings flowers. On Sunday usually my children call one by one because they all live quite far from me. I suppose they could come over, but that’s another story. Have a wonder Mother’s Day!
Since I’m the mom/grandmother I just sit back and am happy. No special plans
Right now, Mother’s Day is still important to me for my mom. My kids are still too young to really know what the day is about, so I don’t really care about it for me yet. But I spend the day with my mom. Always. Even if that means packing up the kids and the dogs and making the two hour drive to her house. Sounds like fun, huh? 🙂
I’m not a mother but I enjoy spending the day with my mom. Moms working this year, so we won’t get to hang out like we usually do…. We will probably have a late dinner.
Mothers day should be a day that mom gets to do what she wants. Everyday is mothers day around here I spend the day with my children and I don’t believe that I should be treated special on just one day but everyday!! This is the day I spend the day with my mom….up there her name is xmasdolly and she dont’ know it yet but I’m coming over to spend the day with her! I’m usually the only one who does!
It is important I guess as it is a special day for moms but I do not have kids yet so the importance of it is small.
Growing up I always spent Mother’s Day with family at a brunch. It was a nice time. This year my kids, hubby and I are going to do something with my parents. Need to spend time with my mother and do something fun with the kids.
It is a special day here. We plan on going out to dinner.
I try to be nice to my mom on Mother’s Day…but we spend a lot of time together on a regular basis, so Mother’s Day isn’t that extraordinary
