It is back to school time, and that means getting back into a routine after the fun summer break. This used to be a harder transition for my kids, but now that my oldest two boys are in 2nd and 3rd grade, they know what to expect. It is also time for us to be thinking about exactly what activities they will participate in this year and what I’ll be sending them with for lunch and snacks. Like most parents, I want to raise happy, healthy kids! That is why we love going to the park, playing in our large backyard and going on nature hikes to keep our kids active. We also limit snacks to certain times of the day so they don’t graze and offer snacks that we can feel good about, like granola bars, yogurt and fruit. I received a Quaker® Fuel Up to Play 60 Family Fun Kit which fits perfectly into our lifestyle!
Quaker has teamed with Fuel Up to Play 60, the nation’s largest in-school wellness program, and Emmitt Smith to encourage and inspire families to balance eating sensibly and getting active as they fuel up for back-to-school.
With this partnership, they want to help families understand the importance of eating sensibly and getting active to maintain a healthy lifestyle. From his days gearing up for football season, to getting his own kids prepped for the school year, Emmitt Smith knows firsthand that a healthy lifestyle helps families fuel greatness for the season ahead.
Quaker has been committed to fueling families for the past 138 years by offering nourishing products made with whole grain oats, educating families on the importance of leading an active lifestyle and seeking partners that offer physical activity solutions. Partners like Fuel Up to Play 60 and Emmitt Smith help continue that mission.

I make sure that we have fruits and veggies prepped and ready for a quick snack.
I pack granola bars, fruit and veggies.
Just have lots of healthy snack options available so you are less tempted.
Cut up fresh fruit and vegetables with dip
I think you do better at making good snacking choices when you have healthy options on hand.
I portion out the snacks into baggies when we bring them home from the store.
I prep our snacks ahead of time so we make healthy choices
portion the snacks ahead of time 🙂
My favorite tip for smart snacking is to have fresh fruit pre-sliced in baggies, ready to eat in the fridge.
For transitioning back to school, just start chaning bed times, getting baths at certain times, dinner times, etc. a little bit at a time for the upcoming weeks.
My tip is to keep fruits and nuts handy for easy healthy snacking!
Have a monthly plan and stick to it. Schedule variety. Simple choices go far.
You wont eat junk food if you dont buy junk food
We get together and make our own mixture.. cereal.. nuts..dried fruits.
Every weekend I make little snack containers of fresh fruit veggies etc for the week then we cheat far far less
my tip for smart snacking is to only keep good stuff in the house. get fruits and veggies and add dip to add flavor
My healthy snack tip is to make my own trail mix. My son loves it!
I always have fruit cut up into small snack size pieces and they love that, I encourange them to stay outside and play as much as possible, unless the weather does not allow them too
For transitioning back to school, I start adapting their bedtime at least two weeks prior to school starting and change the times that they eat so it will correspond to school lunch and breakfast time.
