I was flipping through our “Little Library Dinosuars”  book with my daughter the other day and came upon an activity page. She was instantly excited to build her own dinosaur so we got to work gathering supplies.

MATERIALS:

• Card stock (we didn’t have card stock so we used a fast food box)

• Tracing paper (optional for the artistically challenged)

• Scissors

• Paints and/or markers

———–

The directions suggest using tracing paper but I freehanded the basic form of the body and legs. The concept is simply cutting a slot in the body and inserting the other two pieces for legs. One set of legs is longer so your dino stands up tall. You could easily apply this format to any four-legged animal!

Take out the paints and let your little artist go to work!

  1. This is such a great idea! I like that you don’t need much to make this. My nieces would love to make this especially getting to personalizing it by painting or coloring it.

  2. That is a great idea that would work for kids of varying ages! The older ones can cut out the shapes and kids of all ages can decorate/color the dinosaur. I think we are going to do this at our mom group’s next kid’s craft. Thank you for sharing!

  3. So fun! I would have loved this when I was a kid! My daughter is a little young, but soon we will be making this! Thanks for sharing!

  4. That’s really cute and I love that you didn’t have to go out and buy a bunch of expensive materials. How creative!

  5. I love this! I can’t wait for my little man to be old enough to craft and do this kind of stuff—wait, yes I can!!! I have lots of baby snuggles to get in before then 🙂

Thanks for the fun post 🙂

  6. I think I would end up doing most of the work myself lol But I do think my 3 year old would like to paint it, he likes to paint anything!

  7. Too cute! My toddler is still at the stage where he’d just rip the cardboard, but I’ll have to try this when he’s a bit older!
