Chocolate Dipped Candy Canes are a very simple homemade gift that pairs well with your favorite hot cocoa! Super simple to make with just three ingredients, this candy cane gift is thoughtful and very festive. If you are looking for an affordable dipped candy recipe, this one is a great addition to your hot cocoa bar or holiday cookie tray!
My kids always love giving homemade gifts. Whether it be something special they made for me at school, a picture they can present to grandparents or homemade food gifts like brownie mix in a jar, they feel proud to give away something they created. Following on the candy cane treats from last week, Wes and I made these super simple Chocolate Dipped Candy Canes for gift giving. They perfectly pair with the coffee gift basket I made. All that is missing is some cocoa mix!
This recipe is a great fit for kids of all ages. Some of our homemade candy recipes like pecan clusters with caramel or this cracker candy recipe aren’t as kid friendly to make. This one however, is so simple and fun for kids!
How to Make Chocolate Candy Canes
Making candy canes dipped in chocolate is a super easy holiday treat idea. You’ll want to start by prepping a baking sheet with a silicone baking mat, parchment paper or wax paper. We used mini candy canes but regular size candy canes would work as well. After dipping our candy canes half way into melted milk chocolate, extra small marshmallows were sprinkled over the top for a a whimsical touch. Wes loved adding those and snacking on a few after we finished.
If you are dipping other items in chocolate, these candy canes are a great way to use up whatever leftover chocolate you have. Not much is necessary and they are easy to dip.
I put ours in a parchment paper lined small Chinese Takeout Kraft Box which helps to protect them, but cellophone bags would also work great.
I had some leftover Rudolph candy cane treats from our reindeer candy canes last week. I had made a few without sticks, just in case the stick didn’t hold up the reindeer. (They did.)
How cute are these chocolate candy canes paired together?
