Have you ever had an “I can’t” moment? One where you just don’t feel like you can do something? Maybe it is something big like switching jobs or buying a new house, or maybe something very small like “I just can’t go to the grocery store today”. I think I have one almost every day. As my husband tells my kids almost daily, “Can’t means try harder”. They hate it when he says that, but it is true.
My big “I can’t” moment this past year was becoming a Girl Scout leader. I brought my daughter Danica to the sign up night at her school and talked to the women from the regional offices and told them I just couldn’t be a leader because with 4 small kids I was just too busy to do it. That wasn’t a lie. I am extremely busy, but mostly I was just afraid of something so bold and new. What would people think of me? What if I did something wrong? I just couldn’t see myself doing it. So I said no and waited, and waited, and waited for about 3 months for someone else to step forward and lead a troop for my daughter and her classmates. Nobody stepped forward. I started thinking: Could I do it? I really wanted this experience for my daughter and if that was what it took, I guess I would have to step forward.
I talked to a couple of other parents of girls her age also looking for a troop. Nobody was able to step forward with me, but they offered support. I also talked to a couple friends who were currently troop leaders for other ages and they were encouraging. I finally took the plunge and volunteered. I am not going to lie, I have had a lot of stress headaches because of it, but every meeting gets easier and I am growing to love the girls and their individual personalities. They are teaching me to be confident, and hopefully I am teaching them to do the same.
COVERGIRL is working to empower women to be strong and confident and turn “can’t” into “can” through their #GirlsCan campaign and they asked me to share it with you.
They want to encourage women and girls to be strong and confident by doing what they want such as owning a business, singing, rapping, rocking, being funny and playing sports. Because ! They are also turning “can’t” into “can” by donating $50,000 to Dress for Success®

I went back to school to get my Masters degree while working full time
I was the only one in my family to go to college.
In a couple of weeks I’ll be receiving my Masters Degree. It’s been a long struggle, but so worth it! Thanks for the chance to win!

I got thru college when I did’nt think I could.
I was the first one in my family to graduate from college. I didn’t think I could do it, especially financially, but I made it happen!

That even with type 1 diabetes I was able to manage my sugar and have 2 healthy sons!
I started an exercise plan two years ago and am still doing it.

Carry a baby to term and give birth to a healthy baby! Our first was stillborn and I had a lot of complications, we weren’t sure I’d be able to get pregnant again and most of our family didn’t even want me to try.

After breaking my back and being paralyzed as a child I was told I would never walk again but by the grace of God I am walking and have had four kids!

Recently, a group of my friends signed up to take a self-defense class. I was anxious but glad that I did it afterall.
