Not Me! Monday – #19

I love Not Me! Monday created by My Charming Kids so I’ll take this time to reflect on what I did not do this past week. Please take a moment to visit MckMama’s blog see what she has not been up to herself.
This past week I did not find myself capturing my darling son Warren on camera when he was at his worst. Of course a good mommy would never share his tantrums with the world. I therefore did not take these photos below showing him crying for syrup at breakfast or
having an all out fit after breakfast when I refused to let him have the gigantic Mr. Potato Head with a million little parts in it to string out all over the bedroom floor and then get bored after a couple of minutes of play which happened the day before.
And of course being the great and understanding mommy that I am, I didn’t think it would be cool to capture these moments on camera. Just to share with all of you and to get a little chuckle for myself later. (It is easier to laugh at tantrums than get all stressed and maybe give in, is it not?)
Later I did not find myself letting him PLAY with the DVD cases. This door to our entertainment center is childproof so as to NOT allow this type of play. But given our 16 month old is sometimes difficult to keep entertained with a single thing more than a few minutes, I may have thought it worth it to supervise this activity so I could get some things done in our living room anyway. This did not entertain him for quite a long time and afterwards I did not think that DVD cases are some of the best “non toys” ever. Since we normally don’t let him play with these I would not send mixed signals to the poor boy by allowing this. Not me!
For my last thoughts on Warren this week, I did not find it hilarious when Joe and I went to pick him up from daycare and found him climbing up onto a toddler’s outdoor slide/playhut combo (whatever you call those blasted things) and see him do a little face plant at the top. This was only funny because he a) wasn’t hurt and b) got a mouthful of sand and was laughing himself. As I went inside to clean him up I didn’t kind of chuckle when I found a small piece of sand stuck in his tooth. This was NOT funny and if it were it was only because he thought it was funny too! I did not secretly wish I had a camera on my cell phone (I know I’m in the dark ages) so I could include it in this post!
And because I should probably end this post so you could finish reading it THIS WEEK, I will end on something funny that Lucian did not do. When playing with his alphabet puzzle (which he knows all letters by sight and has for a while) I did not pick up a letter and ask Lucian, “What letter is this?” He did not decide to be disagreeable for the fun of it and say, “It isn’t a T mommy, (pause) it is an M!”. To which I could only smile since I never mentioned what letter it was that I was holding up. And yes, it was a T.
I love the tantrum pictures! I always take pictures during a meltdown … it must a mommy thing!
I always take tantrum pix. I think they are the best and funniest. The facial expressions are so unique with each situation. Love your pix and entry. Lil' D is four and still goes through the DVD cases. He stacks them to see how tall he can get them without falling over. Take care.

I have also never published photos of my baby at his worst. And I totally understand about the DVD's. "Non toys" are all too familiar in my house.
I had forgotten how busy little people are. My baby is 13. I had my 2 year old niece last week and I had to pull out every trick in the book to keep her busy! But I would do it again in a second! Great Not me's.
Tantrum pictures are great and may possibly used in the future (ince siad child has a job) in order to get much bigger and better mother's day and birthday presents. Not that I have done that…I am only speculating, of course.
I love the sock pulling off and throwing tantrum! And yes, you do have to see the humor in it all for sanity-saving purposes!
Oh my he is such a cutie!
That is tooo tooo funny! I have a 13 month old who just started throwing these tantrams. None on film yet! But, I do have his older sister (3yrs old) during many fits! Love your blog too!
Cute post. You have to laugh at these things rather than lose your mind right?
I agree, these are GREAT bribary … I mean incentive pictures for when they get older, or to embarrass their "dates" when they are teenagers later.
What a cutie!
Hey, I found your blog through MckMama's… what a great "not me" post! It's so fun to browse through them and get a few chuckles of all the things we "dont do".
I also was going to ask for a bit of help. (this should take less than a minute) I entered my son in a Crazy Haired Baby photo shoot contest. He is in the top 9.. and it's just down to who gets the most votes.
