Wordless Wednesday – My 30th Birthday

This weekend I celebrated my 30th birthday with an awesome carrot cake my husband made me. It didn’t turn out perfect (darn bundt cake pans are tricky if you don’t know what you are doing) but it was the first he ever made special for me and it even included my favorite, homemade cream cheese frosting! For a present he got me a very cool bike. Thanks honey!
For dinner my husband and I shared some awesome sushi. I got a Maki Combo (along with a tuna roll) which includes a variety of the CHEF’S CHOICE. And in it I found this bad boy. A bit scary but I decided to be daring and bold. I was really surprised that it was a little chewy but good.
I think I’ll spare you all the picture my husband took of me eating it. I’m not sure you all want THAT visual. (Sorry Cat. I hope you didn’t just faint!)

Happy Birthday! You are brave for trying that… I think I would too, though. I’m a fan of seafood!
I’ve been married for 13 years and my husband has never made me a cake. You’re a lucky girl. Plus I LOVE carrot cake!
Happy Bday!
Just wanted to say thank you for following me!
Happy birthday! You’re definitely brave for eating that. I’m getting weirded out just looking at the picture. You must have one strong stomach.
Sorry Miranda! It is just one of those things. Either you love sushi or you just can’t stomach it at all. I have yet to try any sushi I didn’t like, except for the super hot stuff, so I felt comfortable taking a chance. If I didn’t my husband would have. But I’m with you, it is downright SCARY to think I ate that. 🙂
No need to apologize LOL I just think that is one crazy food and you are one brave mama. 🙂
Happy Birthday! You made me so hungry with those sushi pics. I haven’t had good sushi since I moved home from Japan. *sigh*
Oh no! For a long time we didn’t have a local sushi restaurant but a Japanese restaurant opened up here a year or two ago. They have a great selection of sushi but they also have authentic Japanese cuisine. For a while there we could only get it at our local grocery store. Amazing the difference in quality! Great meal to have in the summer since it is so light.
Happy Birthday!! I too love sushi.. great looking birthday cake you got.
Happy Birthday! What an awesome husband you have!!!
Happy 30th birthday. I am not a seafood lover so seeing those parts and suction cups and curling tail and icky, icky, icky things hurts me, Emilie. It just does. 😉 But I’m glad you loved it and I will have a piece of that cake if you please!
Happy birthday! I love love love sushi 🙂 I eat it probably 1-2 times a week!
Happy 30th Birthday! I just celebrated my 30th earlier this month. It sounds like your family spoiled you just right!!
That’s so sweet. I hope my husband makes me a cake someday. I think I’d pass on the sushi though.
Ah that sushi is scary lol. I am such a wuss when it comes to sushi. And how sweet of your hubby to make you a cake! Happy belated birthday!
It looks like you had a wonderful birthday celebration! It’s so sweet that your husband made you a cake! So thoughtful! I love sushi, but I’m really not so sure about that crazy looking thing you got.
I am scared! But Happy Birthday!
My goodness, 30 seems forever ago! And that tenticle? Oh, I don’t think so! You are more woman than me! Happy birthday. Hope the next decade is amazing!

Happy Birthday!
Happy Birthday. On the octopus sushi- did the suction cups stick to your cheek? I had octopus at a Greek restaurant once, and felt like the little cups were trying to cling on for dear life. LOL. I will never forget that!
Happy Birthday! I would NEVER have been able to eat that thing! You are much braver than I.
Happy 30th Birthday! Great cake! I couldn’t eat that sushi esp that kind! lol
