If your toddler suddenly says, “Eeeeewwww…icky” and then looks up at you with his big brown eyes and his hands out before you with a sticky brown substance, you know it might be time to grab the camera.

I can think of  a couple of bright spots in my son’s diaper diving incident.

1.  He thought it was icky and therefore:

  • He told me about it right away.
  • He didn’t touch anything.
  • He didn’t eat it and I’m really thankful about that!

2. This makes for a good story because:

  • I can tease him about this later in life.
  • I took pictures and can share with future girlfriends.
  • I get to blog it.
  • It causes me to scratch my head in wonder at all the issues lately with Warren and poop. (see here)

  1. You mean you actually took a moment to get a camera? And he’s smiling? No offense or anything, but if you’re having poopy problems with your kid, encouraging him with positive attention at moments like that may have something to do with it. He’ll quit, though. At least he knows it’s icky.

  2. Oh gawd! I have to admit my blog is the first thing I think of when something “unusual” happens. But I don’t think I’d have thought about the camera this time! Thanks for sharing…I think 🙂

  3. Cindy, this is actually the first time he has done something like that. The other two poops stories were incidental. He hates having his hands dirty and I think it was a total accident. (Perhaps his butt itched?) While we did take a few pictures we didn’t really make a big deal about it. He smiled for the camera but he didn’t really like it. It was more down to business about just getting him cleaned up. It isn’t something I’m worrying about a repeat, thankfully! 🙂

  4. Oh we have had a few times like that. I never thought to take pictures! My mom would have thought about the camera as she takes pictures of EVERYTHING! LOL! Cute story, thanks for sharing a Mommy moment!
