Get Groovy with Groovy Joe Children’s Book + Giveaway

We’ve long been fans of children’s book author Eric Litwin. We first discovered him with his Pete the Cat series of which we have several books. My kids are always excited for new books and were happy to add Groovy Joe: Ice Cream and Dinosaurs into our rotation. About five pages in when reading the book out loud, my 8 year old asked me if this is the same person who writes Pete the Cat books.  It is definitely written in a similar style so if you like Pete the Cat, you’ll love Groovy Joe!

Released at the end of August, Groovy Joe: Ice Cream and Dinosaurs is a collaboration between Eric Litwin, bestselling author of Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes and bestselling illustrator Tom Lichtenheld of Goodnight, Goodnight Construction Site. It is the first book in a series and I look forward to the next installment Disco Party Bow Wow, coming in Fall 2017! It is designed for ages 3 to 6 but definitely enjoyable for older kids as well.

SYNOPSIS

Meet Groovy Joe, a fun-lovin’, guitar-strummin’, doggy-ice-cream-eatin’ pup as he wrangles three hungry dinosaurs and soon has them singing, grooving, and sharing!

Groovy Joe was living the dream.
He had a spoon and tub of doggy ice cream.
And he started to sing:
Love my doggy ice cream! Love my doggy ice cream!

My four year old especially enjoyed the singing aspect and always loves books that allows him to interact. This book is filled with plenty of rhythm and repetition so just like with Pete the Cat books, I was able to pause and let him fill in the blanks like, “It’s awesome to share!”
