Danica has been a princess for Halloween for 4 years in a row now.  She often wears princess dresses around the house for dress up and I have had trouble convincing her to be anything other than a princess for Halloween.  We have a new costume for her and I am glad to say it is not a princess, but it is similar.  One Step Ahead offers this adorable The Good Witch Costume ($39.95).

Are you a good witch, or a bad witch? A very good witch, indeed, in Glinda’s glittering pink gown, with star-shaped wand and soft fabric crown! Our Wizard of Oz inspired dress features a full, layered skirt, theatrically puffy sleeves, sequins, and lace trim. What fun to wave that magic wand over the other neighborhood munchkins!

Danica loves the Wizard of Oz and thinks Glinda is absolutely beautiful, so she was so excited to get this costume.  We ordered a size medium (8-10) for her which I assumed would be a little big allowing her to wear it for dress up even after Halloween.  I will say the costume seems to run very small for an 8-10. It fit Danica perfectly now and she generally wears a 6-7.  With that said, I do love that the costume did not go all the way to the ground so it will not be destroyed in a night of trick-or-treating.

This costume is extremely well made.  It is hard to see in pictures, but the sequin detailing around the waist and sleeves is beautiful, and the skirt is nice and full with lining, tulle, and the outer decorative fabric.  The dress goes on easily with velcro enclosures in the back.  The crown is nice too and fits Danica well with velcro enclosures.  We love that the costume comes with a magic wand (a must have for Glinda).

We also received an adorable Spider Halloween Treat Bag.  The bag is made of soft velour and is sized for little hands (size 18 months and up).  I do think the bag is slightly small for Danica, not that we go overboard and get a lot of candy, but I prefer something deep so that she doesn’t spill it.   It would be the perfect size for a toddler.

One Step Ahead offers many different quality costumes and accessories for children ranging in sizes from infant to size 10.  I love the Baby Wacky Spider Costume ($29.95) and the Baby Blossom Halloween Costume ($49.95).

Many items such as Glinda’s crown and the Spider Treat Bag can be personalized for an additional $6.00.

  1. How cute- My friend has been looking at making a good witch costume – but is not doing so well. This would be perfect for her girls. It’s not a bad price either. I bought a costume for my nephew & it wasn’t very well constructed & certainly wasn’t going to hold up to a 2 year old playing in it. That costume was just $5 less than this one. The one from Step Ahead looks like it’ll hold up. Thanks for the review.
