Honey roasted pecans are a deliciously crunchy snack that is hard to resist! Bake them in your oven for a special treat that is both salty and sweet. Perfect for munching on any time you need something tasty to tide you over. These simple honey nuts require only a few ingredients and make a great portable snack.
Don’t these look delicious? Don’t believe me? Here is a closeup to help convince you to try these tasty roasted pecans with honey. I love a good sweet and salty combo when snacking. There is just something about a crunchy snack having both of these that tempts my taste buds. There is also no shortage of recipes out there if you are also a fan of sweet and salty snacks. I’ve been itching to try other options, everything from sriracha honey popcorn to toffee peanuts have caught my eye.
Roasted Pecans Ingredients
Just a few basic ingredients are needed for this honey roasted pecans recipe including:
- pecan halves
- honey, warmed slightly
- cinnamon (optional)
- salt
That is it! Most of the flavor comes out of the nuts from the roasting process so a lot of ingredients aren’t necessary. I’m sure that pecans and honey come as no surprise. The cinnamon is an optional ingredient which I think adds a nice flavor. However, if you aren’t a big cinnamon fan you can easily leave that out. These can be just be honey roasted pecans or cinnamon honey roasted pecans, your choice!
How to Roast Pecans in Oven
To make these roasted pecans, start by preheating your oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit. Like a baking sheet with a silicone baking mat or parchment paper. I highly recommend a silicone baking mat. It makes cleanup a breeze and can be used over and over again. If you use parchment paper I would lightly grease with butter to be sure it doesn’t stick. (After some research I learned some people have run into that issue with parchment paper.)
In medium bowl stir together all ingredients. Pour onto baking sheet and spread to single layer as much as possible. Bake for 6 minutes. Stir and then bake for another 5 to 8 minutes or until lightly roasted. Be careful not to burn your pecans. The bake time can vary between ovens and better to be careful than risk burning them and wasting your pecans.
Cool for at least 10 minutes before serving. I love these cinnamon roasted pecans when they are warm and fresh out of the oven. Just be careful to not burn yourself by letting them cool for at least 10 minutes before enjoying these. Store in airtight container.
Why Make Roasted Nuts
These honey roasted pecans work great for a special topping for salads. I personally love candied and roasted nuts on my salad, like this apple pecan salad. It adds a great crunch and kicks up flavor. You can also try flavored pumpkin seeds as well like these chili lime pepitas which has a nice blend of tangy, sweet and spicy.
Roasted pecans are also a portable snack that will fill you up instead of leaving you empty. Did you know pecans contain 19 vitamins and minerals including calcium, magnesium, and potassium? No empty calories here.
